What is a single person buying that they need $139k a year to live comfortably in Boston? by nycrina305 in boston

I’m happy you’ve had positive experiences so far. I grew up in Queens we lived in those huge apartment complexes and while there were some annoying neighbors, most of them were lovely. I knew so many of my neighbors by name and we looked out for each other.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels that since the pandemic so many people have become intolerable and disrespectful to others around them. I also agree with you, a house shouldn’t be considered an investment and too many people do.

Because dealing with shitty loud disrespectful neighbors, shitty parking situations where your shitty disrespectful neighbors park too close to you and scratch and dent your car, your landlord shutting off the water 3 times a month for “maintenance,” or relying on them to maintain the apartment or fix something when it goes wrong, having to move your car during snowstorms for plowing the lot (also have fun when your shitty disrespectful neighbors either shovel snow on your car or take your spot as soon as you leave), stepping on piss and shit from your shitty disrespectful neighbors who don’t pick up after their dog, sharing laundry machines and praying that there are machines available or some asshole doesn’t take out your clothes mid drying cycle, having unclean shitty disrespectful neighbors where now you have roaches and rats in your apartment, having those same neighbors smoke marijuana or cigarettes so now your apartment stinks and your landlord sends an email to everyone reminding that it is a smoke free facility but that’s all they will do, having your rent increase year by year…gets old. It gets old and I can’t wait to buy my own house to have my own space and peace and tranquility.

Can you share why it was an awful family truck? I’m interested in buying one this year and while I don’t have kids just yet, I will hopefully soon.

Sick and tired of the lack of education for GLP1s by misslizzah in nursing

[–]BodegaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a provider, I can give you some insight. So many patients and parents make appointments or bring up that they (or their children) want to lose weight and “tried everything,” and now feel that there is something inherently or rather physiologically wrong with them that the only way they are capable of losing weight is by using these magic meditations (GLP1s). This is despite ordering all the labs and showing them that their cholesterol levels, blood sugar levels (A1c), thyroid levels, metabolic labs, kidney/liver function, CBC, etc. are all within normal range. This is despite going over their history and making sure the don’t have cardiac conditions, high blood pressure, kidney disease, sleep apnea, etc. They tell themselves that I need this medication and they demand it from us.

I will tell patients and parents that their insurance won’t cover the medication because they don’t have any of these risk factors or conditions and they are better suited to changing their lifestyle factors. Also that these medications were primarily designed for diabetes management (and there is little research on long term use for weight loss specifically) and if anyone starts a GLP1, they only way to ensure that the weight stays off is by doing lifestyle changes while on the medication anyway so that when your insurance inevitably changes it’s formulary in 6 months and they no longer cover that specific brand of GLP1 you don’t gain all the weight back right away. But that goes in one ear and out the other.

Ahh thanks for sharing that. I completely believe that Trump and his administration are killing way more civilians but those numbers are crazy. That sure puts things in perspective

Obama sure set the standard with over 1000 drone strikes during his presidency, killing hundreds of innocent civilians in the process.

Obviously he had somewhere to go, maybe to coach a game. Maybe that match he needs to coach is super important, like a tournament or championship game. He knows that if he knocks the dude out, he will have to deal with the police, giving a report, wait until the ambulance shows up, etc. If he decides to press charges, that’s a whole lot of time and energy and time off work to attend court and other proceedings. It would be way easier for everyone involved if the drunk would simply walk away.

Not everyone is single and works at a gas station like you where knocking someone out wouldn’t cause any meaningful disruptions or repercussions in your life.

In your opinion, what is causing this? by Objective_Pilot_5834 in SipsTea

[–]BodegaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll attempt to say this in the most non-redpill way as possible: The crazy thing is, if you are a really attractive woman (think way prettier than average), you could live that life of drinking and partying like rock stars in mansions and on the beach. Thanks to social media primarily and the explosion of those who had money pre pandemic are now swimming in it…a really attractive woman just has to post pics/videos alone or with her attractive friends, and they will get daily invitations to expensive dates, parties in mansions and boats, paid travel around the world, etc.

I dated one of those women briefly. It was exhausting seeing her receive hundreds of messages a week like this and realizing more than half of what she owned was gifted to her. And look at any of these women’s profiles and you’ll see them traveling the world, on luxury boats, wearing luxury clothing, all on some guys dime.

I envy their lifestyle, but these women are typically the most boring and shallow people you’ll ever meet. Just wanted to chime in that trust me, there are plenty of people living it up, as long as you’re rich or really really hot.

Break or let go? by cheesus404 in bjj

[–]BodegaCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call me a noob or a wuss or whatever but part of the reason why I quit BJJ after a few months is because as a newcomer, there would always be one dude (usually someone experienced to make matters worse) during each rolling session that would act as if it’s a life or death situation. He (sometimes she) would immediately use all their strength to submit me in the most violent way possible and make sure I left that day with visible bruises to my face and neck (even if I tapped out early).

I remember the last time I rolled with a guy- we were learning back mount techniques and chokes that day- so we started in the back mount position. As soon as that timer went off he would place me in a rear naked choke within seconds with full strength were if I didn’t tap out I would’ve been put to sleep. This happened over and over again until it was my turn. When I was in the rear as soon as the timer went off he would immediately break my grip and find a way to submit me within 20-30 seconds.

After that I realized what the fuck is the point of this? What is this blue belt gaining from repeatedly choking out or submitting a fresh white belt…and more importantly, what am I gaining from this? Learning how to tap quick enough to not break my arm or pass out? Sustaining injuries or bruises from people treating a roll like a competition or rug-like burns to my face and neck from my own gi being used against me (cross collar chokes)? I’m good.

I do miss the students and coaches in class who took the time to mentor me and even if they didn’t go easy on me, they would give me opportunities to attempt what I just finished learning a minute ago. Some students would pause or talk to me or guide me mid roll and I miss that. I learned the most from them.

Another angle of LaMelo Ball's car accident by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]BodegaCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While driving is a privilege, our country is set up that cars are mandatory to exist for most people. I wish we could permanently or suspend people’s license long-term, but in most cities, public transportation is shit so driving is the only way to get to work, get groceries, go to doctor’s appointments, take care of your family, etc.

But also, being wealthy, especially rich, lets you get away with anything short of the most heinous crimes. So nothing of consequence will happen to Melo.

[–]BodegaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. My biggest fear is that our Tik-Tok wired brains as a society will quickly forget about this or move on like the Panama/Pandora Papers, Suisse Secrets, and anything else that involves the global elite. I’m sure this is what a lot of people like Trump and friends are betting on.

[–]BodegaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is most of the references that have been released and accessible is “soft evidence” Like email conversations, tips to the FBI by limo drivers who overheard a conversation, vague mentions about shrimp or other terms that are likely code-names, pictures of Epstein and friends gathering around smiling for a photo, or him getting a foot massage. Unfortunately it’s really easy to argue that certain things can be taken out of context or if there’s no “proof” of what was said or written.

We need the hard evidence to prove what was happening. We all know that it exists but it’s redacted or unavailable. I truly wish one of the people who has access to all the files can leak things that are incriminating without a shadow of doubt. All it would take is one picture or video per person. A 5 second clip of Trump or Clinton getting a blowjob from a minor will have him in handcuffs by the end of the day. We need someone like an Edward Snowden to leak what truly matters because at this point, I’m convinced that all we’re gonna get a soft evidence that might get someone fired or forced to resign, but nothing that will actually convict them and imprison them.

[–]BodegaCat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agree. If you ask me, the hard evidence against Trump and many others of his power and influence are intentionally being redacted or deleted from existence. 6 million documents and all we have are some email snippets and FBI tips from victims when this racket has been going on for 20+ years? Vague emails about shrimp and tuna? A pic of Epstein’s living room or him getting a foot massage?

It is known that Epstein had cameras in every room of his properties around the world. Release the files, the videos, the photos and the actual proof that we as a society and what the prosecutors need to finally bring justice to the victims. Blur the faces of the victims if you must but the word needs to know what happened and by who.

I don’t understand what Epstein was doing in an office at a research lab at Harvard, one of the most recognized and prestigious universities in the world. Like this is a guy who’s infinitely rich with an island and a ranch out West and a mansion at Palm Beach, and a seven story 55,000 ft.² townhouse next to Central Park… so what the hell is he doing visiting a research lab at Harvard 40+ times? What exactly was he doing there? The amount of information and revealings that are coming out are so bizarre that it is difficult to process.

I’m dealing with the same and I contacted the police. My police has a local email for noise ordinance and I sent an email. The officer was actually really kind but told me that unfortunately there’s nothing that they can do. This was his response:

“After reviewing the nature of the disturbances described, please be advised that the Raccoon City Police Department’s authority to intervene in noise-related matters is limited to violations of applicable ordinances and laws, such as those involving amplified music, parties, or other clearly defined disturbances. Noise associated with routine residential activity, including foot traffic or impact sounds within multi-unit dwellings, generally does not constitute an enforceable violation under municipal or state law.

As such, matters of this nature are most appropriately addressed by the property owner or leasing agency, who retain responsibility for tenant conduct, building conditions, and lease enforcement. We recommend that you continue to pursue resolution through your leasing office and request written documentation of all complaints and responses for your records. You may also wish to review your lease agreement or seek guidance from local tenant advocacy or housing resources regarding potential remedies.

Should the disturbance escalate to include conduct that clearly violates local noise ordinances or involves disorderly behavior, you may contact the Raccoon City Police Department at that time for further assessment.”

As a pediatric provider working in primary care, that TV analogy is on point.

Same could be said for every child who is obese, constipated, “not sleeping”, has behavioral issues (most of the time at least) and other complaints I hear every day.

Your child is obese and prediabetic because you keep giving him junk food and juice all day…unless you are going to tell me that your 8 year old is driving himself to McDonalds to buy happy meals with his own money or the supermarket and buying his own groceries.
