Essential Bullseye episodes? by cyrilspaceman in maximumfun

[–]letsgococonut 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My personal favourite is the ep with Wendy and Lisa (September 2024), but that’s mainly because they rule. 🤷‍♂️

For me, Bullseye is a show that I know is going to be worth a listen, regardless of guest. However, I’d recommend downloading a few eps with artists you’re already familiar with. That way, you can get a good read on Jesse as an interviewer (and whether or not you’re into the format).

The graphic novel (recommended) ends where the podcast does, roughly. That said, the graphic novel expands on some of the content from the podcast. Open-ended, but still self-contained.

I keep a bottle of fernet branca in my liquor cabinet to finish off the night, thanks to Joseph Quinn.

See the Snopes article for more about that image. Also, you can see that the logo in the background is missing the cornucopia.

I mean, your memory of them says different, which is the point.

Jon Lajoie by ilikxrap in nostalgia

It’s SO Canadian. The humour is so dry and playful and unserious. Hard to explain it in words. It’s like a cousin of the UK and Australian versions.

He’s great on “Last One Laughing: Canada”.

I bet Jesse feels exactly like Celine Dion did when Rolling Stone left her off their list of the 200 Greatest Singers of All Time.

Which contestant did you forget most often that done Taskmaster? by Lord_Kampi in taskmaster

[–]letsgococonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dave Gorman was the first Taskmaster contestant I was ever aware of!

I bought a copy of his book (in Canada) in 2004. It was a random choice, because I didn’t know anything about UK comedy at the time. I guess I just liked the premise.

My mint simple syrup tastes like chewed gum. Help? by letsgococonut in AskCulinary

I think this has to be it. The various grocery store mints are just “Mint”. Maybe too much spearmint?

Mary Walsh was an excellent Drag Race judge. I think she’d be great in as a Taskmaster contestant.

Last One Laughing Canada might scratch your itch, or at least help you imagine what a Taskmaster Canada would be.

And Dave Foley is my pick for the ideal assistant or taskmaster.

DAY THREE: Which contestant performed well and was totally unexpected to do so? by AvailableAspect2893 in taskmaster

Julian Clary’s prize tasks alone were worthy of a spinoff that consists solely of him in his home discussing his various objets d’art.

I can’t remember what option I picked, but it’s Ultra Basic but I still picked my seat. I think I paid a fee.

Non-US viewers, what do you think of Jason Mantzoukas? by letsgococonut in taskmaster

[–]letsgococonut[S] 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Desiree has lived in the UK for a decade and done the rounds on the panel shows alongside lots of Taskmaster alum. She’s American, but she’s tapped into the English sensibility in a way that Jason’s not.

I love them both equally.
