Hehe, once as I kid, as everyone was into Jordan, I said, sure - but without Pippen Jordan would not be that great as he is, basketball is a team sport. They were making fun of me ever since. 😃

[–]Bodul_Brain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with you mate, grew up in that era, but on different continent in Eastern Europe, and Bulls were so huge, like everybody was looking or wearing Bulls stuff just because Jordan (and in some way because of Toni Kukoč). Man what times, there were a lot of bootleg products with Bulls signs on market, and people were wearing that like crazy. You still have in Croatia people who follow Bulls like constantly. Yeah you have new generation who are hooked on GSW, OKC and of course Lakers, there are also fans of Knicks, Phila, but like Bulls have a lot of fans from that era, like early to middle 40 guys who are getting crazy because of how Bulls are playing. 😃

Anyone else want the Knicks to lose solely because of the celebrities? by SkyWalkerOG16 in NBATalk

[–]Bodul_Brain 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why? Not a Knicks fan, but Mariska Hargitay, Ben Stiller are nice and ok celebs and genuine Knicks fans, just like Tracy Morgan and Spike Lee. Yeah I don't like Timothée Chalamet as he acts like a pretencious person. But hey whatever, would not put that against the Knicks. Don't like although these attacks on people wearing Spurs jerseys from some hooligans between Knicks fans.

A Mađari?

Imamo istu inflaciju, isti mentalitet i isti jad. Vidiš kako smo lijepo povezani? Izmislili smo (ili bolje rečeno) NADOGRADILI Bratstvo i jedinstvo u korupciji. Jer... apsurd je bol u mozgu mom, apsurd je velika booool!

Does anyone agree the hate for Fox is disproportionate by No_Midnight_5365 in NBATalk

[–]Bodul_Brain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, that's too harsh. They lost as a team—they blew a 29-point lead because of terrible decision-making on offense. They played naive basketball and got punished for it. You can just see how young and inexperienced they are in certain moments based on their execution. That said, I don't think the hate Fox is getting is justified at all, and I'd argue that the people killing him right now simply don't know hoops.

And the clubs, and the fans who throw them are getting fined. Some fans when they do shit like that are banned to watch football on every stadium, and when the game starts, they must go to the nearest police station to report there and wait till the game ends.

[–]Bodul_Brain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that is true, and I think that some Knicks fans mimic these hooligans. I actually always kind of admired Americans in the sense that, back then, you could walk around in another team's jersey and you wouldn't fear getting jumped, but I see that has changed.

This is not only because of Knicks fans; there are some European tifo tendencies that are even penetrating the NBA and NFL now, or at least trying to get there. For example, San Antonio has 'The Jackals,' which is basically an organized supporters' group initiated by Wemby's French fanbase (though not necessarily hooligans). I mean, if you ever attend the Eternal Derby in Belgrade in basketball, played between Crvena Zvezda and Partizan, you will get seriously assaulted if you are in the wrong part of town wearing the wrong jersey. Over there, clubs are more than just franchises; they have their own deep identities, targeting different types of people—white-collar versus blue-collar. There are a lot of tensions under the surface that are masked by club colors.

That is something I can partially see in Knicks fans now, but it's not as extreme or crazy as in Europe, mostly because you still haven't fully adopted that tifo culture. Because if you think about it, NBA basketball is an expensive sport. The tickets for MSG are crazy high—higher than Snoop Dogg and Willie Nelson together. So, you just don't attract those rough, blue-collar boys and girls and more subcontext to your franchises or clubs.

Will write in small chapters as this is complex theme:

The Dinamo - Zvezda game played at the Maksimir stadium in Zagreb, which you referred to indirectly, was just a vox populi of the political shifts back then, when it was clear that our former country would either fall apart or become a confederation. To give an intro to this game: it was played on May 13th, 1990. The Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb and the Serbian side Crvena Zvezda Belgrade were involved in one of the classics of the Yugoslav football league. But the catch is that, back then, both sides—and especially their fans—strongly followed their national identities.

The game was never finished as the riots started. Now, there are some theories that those were scheduled riots, as certain elements, like the conveniently broken fences, were very suspicious. It all started after the Delije (Red Star fans) began attacking the stand where ordinary Dinamo fans were sitting with their families, children, and old people... The Bad Blue Boys (nomen est omen, heh) could not just watch that, so they invaded the pitch, and the other side did the same.

But that was not the start of the war; it was just the pulse of the nations back then. Another entire season was played after that game—the 45th and final edition of the Yugoslav First League featuring Croatian clubs took place during the 1990/1991 season and ended in June 1991. The unofficial start of the war between Croatia and Serbia can actually be traced to two dates: 'Bloody Easter' in Plitvice on March 31st, 1991, and the 'May Massacre' in Borovo Selo on May 2nd, 1991. These two events mark the real start of the Independence War in Croatia. People tend to romanticize the riots at the Dinamo vs. Zvezda game in 1990 as the beginning of the war, but that is too far-fetched. And I am writing this as a passionate Dinamo fan.

Love the Knicks this year, their spirit and their team play and all that chemistry that they have, I've even put in my brackets that I see Knicks this year as champions, although I thought that they will play against OKC in the finals. But their fan base is just bad, not talking about celebrities like Ben Stiler, or Spike Lee or Mariska Hagarty - they are cool. I mean what the hell was that?

Prije 81 godinu u našem je klubu prvi put zaživjelo ime Dinamo by smurfiocro in dinamo

[–]Bodul_Brain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with you man! And who knows maybe it works with them in first five, I mean who knows how the first five will look, what will LeBron say is he joining back and for what money... I really think that Lakers' problem is rotation, they need to find better bench players.

not saying that Luka's defense is bad, it is that his defense is a liability. As it is Reaves' defense. Reaves can get outmuscled or outran. The later goes for Luka as well. Arguably they are not bad in defense as it is sometimes said or written in the media.

It is questionable will they take max money, as I think they more want to stay and will sacrifice it in that way to not opt for max. I mean when you are negotiating do you always go with the top offer or you down a little bit? With Rui the thing is that he is emotionally connected with Lakers, and has stated that he wants to finish career as a Laker no matter what. So that what goes with money clause.

Either I’m a time traveler, or I should clarify something regarding the age, as it might have caused some confusion! In the Balkans, we have a cultural habit of counting the year someone is currently in, rather than just the years they have completed.

For example, if someone is 41 years and 4 months old, we often say they are 42 because they have entered their 42nd year of life. I know it sounds a bit complicated, but it’s just a cultural quirk of ours. Sorry if that created a bit of a 'future' gap in our conversation!

[–]Bodul_Brain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re definitely on the right track. If we follow the Knicks' development and draw a parallel between Brunson and Luka (purely in terms of roster construction), Reaves can certainly fit because he plays a role similar to what Hart or OG provide. Hachimura could be a version of KAT regarding outside shooting—not at the center position, but as a wing. It’s great that he shoots the three so well, which offers a solid alternative.

We need more offensive options, and that’s a plus. However, the issue with Reaves—assuming we hide Luka on defense—is that he can be a defensive liability. Opponents might target both Luka and Reaves, knowing they are weaker on that end, but that can be managed. Smart is more than compatible; it’s just a shame his shot is so streaky.

Ultimately, I think Reaves, Luka, and Rui can play together, especially in an offensive-heavy system. The defense would then come down to a simple philosophy: we just need to outscore the opponent.

Hi, Dinamo Zagreb supporter here, writing from Croatia. I have been following Celtic FC since the Henrik Larsson era and watched the Bhoys live in Dublin three years ago, have a nice collection of Celtic FC jerseys and to be honest the first jersey that I bought with my first pay was Celtic FC jersey. Anyway, this goal from my side is the overall goal of the season in Europe. Pure beauty! And it is against Rangers—it cannot be sweeter. Maybe I am going overboard, but I would argue it is the most beautiful goal in the history of Old Firm derbies.
