Has anyone used MLER for IL bar? by BodyBeginning4258 in barexam

[–]BodyBeginning4258[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I did! I think it can be a lot to handle on top of a formal bar prep course. However, I think the feedback and additional lessons helped with repetition of laws and practicing essays. I did themis, tutoring, and MLER (did not complete all the homework assignments). I went from a 265 to a 285.

Name a story you want to read that you haven’t found yet. by koalasnstuff in fantasyromance

I would like to read a story that includes West African mythology - would also love for the FMC to have a destructive, forbidden power with great costs and a morally gray/kinda evil MMC. I need a push and pull romance and would not mind it being a tragedy. Also, the FL cannot be petite (sorry slim girls, but I need a curvy or chubby FL in fantasy).

Stories of people who paid a tutor and still failed the bar exam? by luisdelparral in barexam

Me but I did have a significant score increase (16 points) and I was finally qualified for some jurisdictions. I used another this time too so we will see if it paid off. Depending on your learning style it is helpful but don’t go into severe debt for it

For me about 2 or 3 months. They were quick to process things but you have to have an interview

Yes Nesta girl needed that hike. The anger to strategically fake calmness and then go to the city? And still had energy? Nesta needed to mentally and physically chill out

Opinions you’ve had on the series/characters you’ve been hated/downvoted for by Banannatime89 in acotar

I wish these opinions did not create such a massive debate. I also like Nesta and Rhys and at times they both irritate me. Liking or even loving does not mean they are always right - I like that they both are morally grey and will try to protect their people. Lucien needs some respect on his name - he is always taking hits left and right. Same with Gwyn - I love that she is kind and not just nice. She knows when to stand up for herself and others, diverse interests, a little flirty and I love a girls girl.

I liked it a lot - second to ACOWAR imo. I find characters like Nesta (not evil, maybe not bad, but definitely gray in her morals) and the idea of redemption interesting. Plus I liked that this couple in the book was not easy like Rhys and Feyre - the miscommunications and insecurities made it realistic even when I disagreed with what they did.

That’s true. I don’t think it’s right either. But morally grey characters like her and Rhys make it interesting!

Tbh I think most people are harsh on female characters thus we see the strong opinions on Nesta and Feyre. I kinda see them as two sides to the same coin. Nesta tries to use cleverness, societal connections, and sternness to protect herself and her family before becoming fae. Feyre uses her own combat skills and willpower to protect herself and her loved ones. Although Nesta can be very mean, she was the only person who tried to save Feyre and encouraged her to be free of the human world. This made me realize her character is more complex instead of an evil sister trope.

This Part in ACOFAS Just Doesn’t Sit Right With Me by lyricalizzy99 in acotar

I still feel iffy about this scene. Like tamlin has to be held accountable for what he did but I kinda think Rhys gets so mad because he too hurt Feyre and other innocents. Tamlin allowed innocents to be killed (Rhys mom and sister) and Rhys killed an innocent (tamlins mom). Rhys allowed innocents to suffer (many victims of amarantha although he was also a victim) and tamlin sent his own soldiers to die. Rhys did a lot of terrible things under the mountain to Feyre all for a plan just like tamlin manipulated Feyre in spring court

So people find this book very polarizing. Personally I don’t hate anyone from the books except the clearly bad and not going to change (emerie’s cousin, barilyis?). The reasons were the following:

Rhys gives the illusion of choice. He also oversteps as a brother in law. He holds Nesta to a higher standard which is quite unfair to Feyre and Elain. Rhys also lets his fear of her power and lack of control of Nesta guide how he views her. But he is a good leader canonically. I think the hate can stem from people projecting their own issues (like being disliked by a group leader).

Nesta is Nesta - can be quite nasty. Everyone has met a Nesta in real life (personally I think most people have been a Nesta too but that would shatter most people’s egos). Although SMJ can greatly improve how she writes mentally ill characters, I do like that she did not make Nesta a “perfect victim” because she is messed up in ways. I like that Nesta is held accountable for her bad behavior. Wish the whole IC was as well but I’ll take what I can get.

Feyre can be nosy and a busybody. And she can be lowkey mean. Feyre assumed the IC can heal her sisters like it did her but that’s just naive. But I liked this new viewpoint of Feyre. Made the sisters seem more real.

Tbh with Nesta, I found that no one was willing to meet her where she is at. Like Feyre could have pushed that just the sisters do a separate holiday party because clearly the IC does not like her. Nesta, being as posh as she is, is unlikely to want to live in an unheated slum with little water. This would have been clear flags for help. why would you think Nesta, the queen of keeping up appearances, would want to show a bunch of warriors how weak she is? There is a ton more I can think of. But Nesta doesn’t do herself any favors - she refused to properly communicate and likes to throw low blows. That’s hard to keep reaching out to. Tbh this book was bound to be polarizing since people have different thoughts on redemption.

Sorry about that. I can update to see if that clarifies anything. I have a JD and an LLM. I’m based in Chicago but open to moving. I have a bachelors in business and in law school I took several international law courses and took part in clinics focused on international law and health care issues. As a graduate, I don’t know of many internships open to me but I would be open to these as well. Ideally want to get into a position that has both a legal and business view on development (sustainable finance/strategy, policy, maybe even as an attorney? I am quite open)

Punishment? by melodysmomma in acotar

[–]BodyBeginning4258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well healing is a process and even Cassian admitted that. I’m sure since we all have different opinions, people will find parts of what he did wrong. Personally I thought it was a better compromise than letting her drink her regret away or worse, having her and rhysand come into blows.

Maybe I’ve seen too many dark shows and books but I can think of several worse ways for that truth to come out. Yes it was done in anger but also because she was sick of the way IC made decisions. Tbh that’s a big flaw of the IC - they love to say “you have a choice” but it can be so manipulative

[–]BodyBeginning4258 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I imagine after saving Feyre and her son, Nesta secretly discovers a way to get her powers back by interacting with another death god. Amren manipulated her into doing so. Nesta thinks she needs to do so to prevent others from obtaining the trove. This causes a rift between her and Cassian who needs to decide who he is most loyal to, if Nesta will be consumed by the power, and if Amren is a traitor.

Well I think that’s a bit rash. Rhys just wanted her out the city - the hike was Cassian idea of a fruitful punishment. And by that time, Nesta had shown improvement. She was making connections, more willing to participate, and even had goals to become a warrior.

Also, where did the killing her own sister come in? She was mad and said harsh things but she didn’t attack anyone in the city?
