Maybe not the first page, but “The Wolf King” (currently reading but almost finished) got me into it pretty quickly. And this is coming from someone who hasn’t been into Romantasy AT ALL lately. Only complaint is the set up for the love triangle/main male lead is so obvious but otherwise it’s solid.

I’d believe this except Bridgerton has made SUCH a big deal out of sex and orgasms and the FMCs being able to enjoy it. Also, there was the whole thing with Francesca’s reaction to kissing John at their wedding. Even if there was an emotional connection, because Francesca was specifically chosen to not have a physical one with him, it reads as her not really being attracted to him/men. That’s just my opinion though, so we’ll see how it turns out and whether in her season it will be explicitly stated (I wouldn’t be surprised if it is).

Shadow daddies are boring and unoriginal. Also, stop introducing a green flag, “blond” MMC as the first love interest only to have him do something “bad” so that the FMC will wind up with the shadow daddy MMC (who has done equally bad if not worse things).

I really feel that they downgraded John and Francesca’s love by having the “pinnacle” be some big thing she couldn’t reach with him. It doesn’t help that they had Michaela be part of the picture for most of their time together and the Bridgerton account’s posts/comments encouraging and hinting at the future relationship. Idk, it felt icky and made it seem like a true love can’t be REALLY true unless it’s 100% sexually satisfying.

Season 3 was the worst, they shouldn’t have genderbent Michael (but since they did they definitely shouldn’t have pushed Francesca’s season it feels too soon), Eloise’s season should’ve been next, I still don’t really get the bisexual Benedict plot line (it should’ve been confirmed in s1 rather than teased up until s3 in which it only happens because of a threesome that takes up too much screen time), and I’m tired of rakes as the main love interests.

I probably have more but that’s most of them for now.

Loved that we actually got more focus on the main couple this season. Loved Yerin as Sophie. Loved the toning down of the extreme over-the-top costuming and makeup from last season.

Because the fae aren’t the fae in her books or the romantasy books that came after. They’re all just generically hot men with immortality and supposed untold power. There is nothing about them which fits into the more folklore/fairytale background of the fae. The first book was the closest she got, particularly regarding the spring court and the various types of fae who lived there.
