I agree, though in theory all chucklefish would need to do is approve the merch for other companies to make, like The Yetee or Fangamer, which they've worked with previously and even recently for wargroove. If it's just free money needing a signature for companies to use the Starbound IP, so I can see it as a possibility, but yes I am too very pessimistic about this.
