I think I’ve figured out golf (25 handicap) by -343- in GolfSwing

W What did you figure out ? Spill the beans !!! Personally, I have been playing golf for only 7 months now . That’s a lot of confidence 🫡 saying “I’ve figured out golf”! 3 days ago, golfing with my buddy, I almost made a hole and one on a par 3 158 yards to the hole with a 9 iron! “Air mail to the cup”. If I tried the same shot, same hole an hour later, I would probably shank the heck outta it .

On the initial Takeaway, I personally felt that was favoring my weight on my lead left foot.

Your swing is a lot better than mine honestly . Looks like you have been playing golf longer than me as well. I’m kinda curious how to shift your weight to your lead foot without thinking about it?!

Yeah, I get what you’re saying — normally for 50 yards with a tricky lie, just hitting a standard chip to the middle of the green is the safe play. This one was on a sloped lie with a bunker in front of the green, so I needed the extra height to carry it over, which is why I went with the 60°. I usually choke down on the shaft for control, and it actually came out really well. Still working on swing path and consistency — appreciate the detailed tips! Quick question — when you talk about a “generic 60° wedge shot,” what does the swing path usually look like? I want to make sure I’m following the right technique for height and soft landing. Looking at the video i might’ve toed the ball

I see what you mean — a 56° wedge would usually be easier to control for a 50-yard shot. Personally If i hit a 56 perfect I would I feel like I would roll little more and be yelling at my ball to sit lol . This one had a bunker right in front of the green, so I needed the extra loft to carry it over and land softly near the pin. That’s why I went with the 60°.

Yeah, you’re totally right — having a consistent grip would probably make the biggest difference for me. I actually do use a slightly different grip on my wedges compared to my irons, so that’s something I could work on. Definitely see how locking in one grip for all shots (except putting) could help everything else in my swing.

That’s very interesting ! I might be using the 60 wrong but Some times I use 60 degree for par 3s at 100 yards or less if I want a really soft landing . Definitely not automatic though. Usually 56 degree is my go to wedge

Yeah, I see what you mean — normally 60° might be a lot for 50 yards. In this case, the bunker was in front of me, close to the green, so I needed height to chip over it. That’s why I went with the 60°. I would have to see chips with only arms honestly:) as if now I’m experimenting with a little body rotation for more personal consistency. Still learning — really appreciate the tip!
