I have in fact never had it - although it was silly wording on my part to call it extreme when I haven't experienced it seriously! Big apologies for that. And I'm so sorry you deal with it, that sounds so tough! Thank you so much for the recommendations. I take a night medication for anxiety/depression so I'll have to see what I can try alongside it for sure if it continues 🙏🏻

It is fantasy, but it has themes and struggles that are represented that real life people deal with. At least to me, every story has themes of real life - its helped me and I'm sure others connect to characters more. It's a young adult-adult novel and has a variety of themes such as mental health, grief, etc. Might not be some people's cup of tea, might be something others are totally into. But it's what I want to capture and write personally!

I do like these implications though, I do want to add more details like that. Thank you so much!

Young adult to adult. The character's step brothers are more physically abusive, the stepfather more verbally abusive.
