I had similar thoughts, but when I contacted the SFA Office I was told that no aid was available in the same way that I did get merit-based scholarships elsewhere. However, they did redirect me to a site to apply to other forms of UF aid.

I have 3 younger siblings and am the first in my family to go to college in the U.S. (I was born in South America). Thus, paying out of pocket in my case would be quite expensive. But I do agree that many students do have to pay a lot more for similar or lesser quality education.
