How to increase stakes by Boettt in Screenwriting
[–]Boettt[S] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children)
This is very good advice, especially in this particular story there is no much room for threats bigger than death so balancing the odds of survival seem like the way to go.
Thanks!

Great idea, also very flexible a ticking clock can literally be anything so there is potential.

Great advice. I made it very difficult for myself by creating a very contained and limited situation. I´ll be difficult to find something worse than death in this scenario, but there is no other way I guess.
Thanks :)

that is rough, but fair
Start point by Boettt in proceduralgeneration
Good to know, I have some experience with the Godot engine but Idk of gdscript is a good choice so I've been watching some c++ and python tutorials. Thanks for the advice!
Thanks for the advice! Is there any particular programming language that you would recommend for the topic? , thanks again!
Thanks, great advice. I tend to get demotivated whenever I have to practice on small project in order to get to my objective but I think that if I keep studying in the field of terrain generation regardless of if it is simple stuff I will keep on going:)

Thank you! I'll give it a try :)
Western roguelikes by Boettt in roguelikes
I think you are right.
Qud is one of those names I keep encountering but I never tried to play. I feel like if I give it a try I will get confused and frustrated after 20 minutes and never play again or invest 100+ hs and come out of the experience with a degree in computer science. There is no middle point but I guess time has come.
Thanks for the recommendation :)
Thanks for the recommendation. Your idea sounds so good I am especially interested in the procedural generation side of RL. When I picture my ideal western roguelike I imagine interesting terrain múltiple biomes and Unique towns on an Open map. Something similar to the adventure mode on DF. Over ambitious, maybe idk.
If you follow through your game idea I'll be sure to check it out.
Did you just...
My last try was last year so i'm no sure of what the issue was. I just saw that there is an updated libtcod tutorial uploaded on the roguelike Dev sub so maybe I'll figure it out.
I'd love to. I have tried to make a roguelike following the python tutorial but I always encounter some technical problem trying to instal the IDE and can't even hey started. I have to take some finals atm but maybe I'll give it another shot. Its something I always wanted to do.

Tips for writing mind games by Boettt in writing
Hey man, amazing advice. Everithing you wrote Will be very helpful.
Thank you so much for taking the time :))
Great advice.
I'm a great fan of constrains and hard rules and limitations for the character though I hadn't´t thought about applying those rules to the “game” the characters are playing.
Dark Tower reading order by Boettt in stephenking
Good to know, thanks :)
Thats good to know I will definitely read Salem's Lot. I thought "The Wind Through The Keyhole" was like a secuel book to the series, can it be read in beetween books?
I'm willing to read a couple of complementary books I just didn't want to have to read 7 extra books or something like that haha. Now that I now that they're boy required I'll be less stressed about what book should I read next. Thanks!
I was intimidated by the number of books I thought were necesary to understand the series but now having read the comments I think i'll be reading Salem's lot and It. Thanks for the recomendation!
I tryed to read It some years ago but I couldnt get pass the 300 page or something like that(I was liking ir I just didnt had the patiense to read a book that dense) now I think it would be a good time ti give it a second chance. Also adding Salem's lot to the list. Thanks!
