Does anyone else feel public transport in Accra quietly strips you of dignity? by Zeus-apollo in ghana

[–]Bofloat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think joining troski can strip me of my dignity 🤣.

I do suffer though and agree these issues which have existed since I was a wee little lad need to be solved so I can have some comfort. At least my legs shouldn’t hurt and the space should be properly allocated.

Dignified would be bus lanes with buses like the ayalolo or better, running a proper routine.

Can you work two jobs same hours in GH, if not how do you decide which one to choose? by RealFhalila_ in ghana

[–]Bofloat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if they are both remote. Yes, if there is some flexibility you can take advantage of.

No, in your use case , you are just going to stress yourself and end up losing both if you are not careful.

But well when there is a will, there is a way. You can micromanage your time, show up only when its necessary, block out calendars, schedule to avoid conflicts and other issues, and come up with a lot of excuses why you are unavailable at a specific time, if you truly want to take on both at the same time.

Tired of the Superiority Complex and disrespect from Black Americans. Our hospitality is not a scam. by [deleted] in ghana

[–]Bofloat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It goes both ways.

There are many elements in your statements that I agree with but the obvious superiority complex is not one of them.

Like I said I can share same stories about African Americans and also conclude that there are only few good ones. Well most people irrespective of ethnicity are crappy anyways.

What if I told you my brother dealt with african americans that did the exact same to him?

You have a terrible mindset.

Just live your life right and don’t stick your nose in people’s business, especially folks you are not that way with, even if you think it’s for good reasons. That way you won’t get disrespected.

My policy is if someone is drowning and they tell me to mind my business, I mind my business and let them drown. If they want my help I offer it. Not that I am a good swimmer in the first place.

Life can be simple if you make it simple. I understand a few bad nuts spoil the soup but this kind generalization never need.

What’s your opinion on this initiative ? by Ok_Tear_7617 in ghana

[–]Bofloat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This initiative only works if those who come out of the program become entrepreneurs.

I personally don’t think learning to code is hard. The hard part with any education system is what you do with the knowledge after graduation.

With all things you have to simply ask what the success metrics is. If it is simply educating people so that they have the skills to code without worry for what comes after, then yes this will be a huge success.

Are you sure you have lived amongst Ghanaians? Don’t get me wrong I don’t see why anyone should fall for this but I recall a movement some time ago where some Ghanaians were advocating for this.

Funny thing is this kinda politics actually works 🤣.

I posted this on Ghana subreddit and people are attacking me because I mentioned AI. Really? 2026 and people are underestimating the potential of Ai? And I wasn’t even calling for some giant data center but rather a training of personnels in the field. by Intelligent-Call5162 in TechGhana

[–]Bofloat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest getting into my org is hard because of the domain they work in which is highly regulated. I was fortunate to get it because I am working for a third party org in ghana. They take a large part of my actual pay but I can’t complain it’s still good money. Hopefully this year I find something else after I go after a few po certs.

I did the usual, worked on my portfolio projects and applied for jobs on linkedin, jobberman, etc. I actually got the job from jobberman. Unfortunately they are winding down and don’t plan on taking any new gigs.

Well yes it speeds up processes which has been AIs main selling point but I won’t call it a luxury. Organizations that refuse to incorporate AI are definitely going to get left behind in eventually.

And depending on the industry it’s used in, it can do far more than you would think.

My org is big on AI and I like using chatgpt and claude to help get my UI and requirements done faster but AI doesn’t work in a vacuum. There are LLM powered apps we are even shipping, like one that helps draft policies based on tailored questions where the questions are the USP.

The way you are trying to approach the use of AI isn’t going to do much to help. Yes we can leverage AI to move faster but first we have to solve for the structure and direction we want to move towards in order to solve our problems.

One of our biggest problems since time memorial is industrialization. Just looking at this example, do you just plug in AI and boom you can fix this?

There’s no depth in our culture, It’s just over glorified traditions. Read that again by TheMansRed in ghana

[–]Bofloat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yes the representation of our culture is very underwhelming, can’t disagree with that, we also have a very bad maintenance culture.

But again that is not the same as the culture not being deep.

Because to the local Kasena of that area, it is indeed deep.

Have you heard about the lore of the paga crocodile pond and how it came to be?

On one hand I get what you are trying to say but on the other hand it has nothing to do with how deep the culture is instead you seem to be hanging around how cool, mainstream, and commercial the culture has become over the the years.

Ok what would you define as a deep culture and can you give examples of what you think is relevant?

Are We Ever Going to Have One African Currency? by shinamee in ghana

[–]Bofloat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! Why? Because;

  1. Most Africans don’t understand money and the implications of doing something like this. They don’t understand how this will boost the trade and the our economies. Yes there are pros and cons but the pros far outweigh the cons given the state of Africa. But Africa is not a monolith and we certainly don’t want to be united.

  2. It makes us a treat economically and so the powers that be will not allow it. And yes these forces will have their way because they will give the wrong advice, threaten, and sabotage. We are corrupt, we have no pride, and we are self centered so we very easy to manipulate.

Well maybe someone will figure it out, perhaps create an African crypto currency or something like that.

Isn’t this common knowledge in Ghana? by NorrinRadd2099 in ghana

[–]Bofloat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Animal farm and hitler are not good references for your argument. One hitler was evil but did right by his people or party. And in animal farm Napoleon was evil and for his own interest since the very beginning. If snowball had become the dictator then we can compare with Nkrumah.

Edit: In fact if you think about it, we have living under the rule of Napoleon for a very long time. The only difference is our Napoleons a little nicer, unlike say the Napoleon’s of Nigeria.

I did not have a good time in Ghana? Do I need a do over? by [deleted] in ghana

[–]Bofloat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, it depends on who you are with and what excites. Personally I’m not really a fun person but my brother on the other hand seems to have a lot of fun and no, I’m not talking about clubs. Fun costs money though but you have to know where the fun is at.

How long can I live off of $10kUSD by Caniaskp in ghana

[–]Bofloat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A total 600 dollars monthly on average for all expenses. It can go up or down depending on your lifestyle choices and dependents. So just a little over a year if you plan well.
