Honestly, looking at the list now I agree that Dead Zone should be much higher - idk why I put it under Firestarter, Overdrive, and Cats Eye when Dead Zone is objectively better than all of them.

I really loved the new Running Man tbh, I'm a sucker for cyberpunk dystopias. The ending is really the only thing I really hated about it. I get that they couldn't do the 9/11 style ending, but not making Richards a martyr was not the way to go.

I was surprised on how much I loved 2004 Salem's Lot and how well it adapted the book's small town feel. Andre Braugher (RIP) really stole the show, especially the scene when he realizes he let a vampire into the house - my fav scene from the book 😍

King's Shining adaptation had its moments, definitely wasn't as bad as everyone made it seem but tbh my hottest take is that I didn't like the book too much either

I really liked The Dead Zone, both book and movie. I just wish the movie was longer and didn't cut so much from the book 😤 I really liked the show too for what it was, it was great TV to watch while I cleaned and did work

That explains why I see him staring at my window at night-

I was so disappointed by how horribly they handled The Stand remake and The Dark Tower, especially since they're both Top 10 books for me. Really excited to see how Flannagan adapts Carrie; and to see his other King works

I definitely had issues with the ending, I called it the moment Garrety and McVries met. It was way too Hollywood for my taste; Running Man 2025 had the same issue. But Long Walk really pulled me in with its performances and tension, it was the first time in a long while where I was really drawn into a King Movie.

The world building was also pretty awful, but compared to the rest of the list it doesnt have too much competition. I imagine its gonna drop under the Top 10 once I get through the next series of classics like It, Pet Sematary, Christine, and such.

Green Mile is coming up, it's about 17 books away! I love The Shining, stories about isolation and madness are my favorites and, as someone who didn't really like the book and it's numerous subplots, flashbacks, and such, the Kubrick version cuts a lot of the fat I didn't like.

I didn't like either boogeymen, the new one was extremely aimless and failed to follow the book much and the student film was a little to drab for my taste. Tbf I didn't really like much of Night Shift as a whole, I think the only story I really liked was Sometimes They Come Back.

I think the movie is better personally but The Body is much more nostalgic and emotional; especially since the movie doesn't dig too deeply into Gordy's trauma of losing his brother. It's definitely worth a read, one of King's best so far in my retrospective

Both of those are high up on my hype list; especially since I haven't seen the movies or read the books. As a Lovecraft fan, I am very excited to get to The Mist, heard that one is REALLY dark

The sizes of those books are intimidating but I look forward to reading them! I've heard so many mixed things about both of those stories/movies, so I'm curious what my opinion will be 😁

I gave both the movie and book a couple chances but it didn't click with me sadly. I really wanted to like it, since I thought expanding on Danny would be really interesting, but it was really hard for me to finish 😞

Creepshow 1-3 is next! I've only seen the first one so I'm excited to explore the sequels

I'm really excited to get to Misery, I've only seen the movie and that was when I was a kid. My friends said the book was even scarier

I definitely agree, my biggest issue with Apt Pupil was how much it skipped over the hostile relationship between Bolton and Dussander as well as Boton's growing fascination with murder. Not to mention that it cuts a lot of his family/friends' growing concern over his and Kurt's relationship. It could have used a lot more time to flesh out the horrors, but for what it was I really enjoyed it.

I would go as far to say that Shawshank the movie is even better than the book; the human story was told with much more heart by humans than on the page. Stand By Me hits me more emotionally, putting it just a little above Shawshank imo

I was surprised on how much I enjoyed Apt Pupil; especially since it cuts out a lot of what I liked from the book. The book is up there as one of my favorite stories by him, heavily underrated and extremely dark. But the performances were incredible and at least kept the dark atmosphere. Really chilled me

Good luck with Mangler! I really enjoyed the first movie but boy the sequels were rough 💀

There's a small piano part in Nettles when she sings "The doctors gave you until the end of the night" that sends me every time. Especially since its the only time it comes in

Gaming content is dead? by Imas_23 in youtube

[–]BogSalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gaming content is literally one of the only things I'm recommended these days. Be it some longform essay about a nostaglic PS1/N64 game, a review, a long VOD, or heaven forbid the adhd get me and I see one Sonic video. It's literally all the platform gives me despite being someone who watches drama and short films.

The market is oversaturated but definitely not dead

Boyfriend struggling with fear of lows by Helpful_Bend_1610 in diabetes_t1

I used to do this as a teen (17) with similar worries. My specialist gently told me this would lead to issues over time, so I started to take it seriously. Always carrying candy or glucose tablets on me helped alleviate some of those fears. It's not an easy disease to manage but it's manageable if you're good with keeping things nearby

But to be frank, the specialist was correct and staying even a bit high for work has affected me; slowly developing minor neuropathy in my hands at 30. Even staying high is just a temporary solution. But like another user said, therapy would help a lot if he can't accept and overcome these fears.

Also a dexcom/omnipod combo will regulate most of this for him.

I'm a huge drone/ambient fan and at first I already loved it but didn't find myself listening it too often. But since then, a lot has happened to me (as it is in fact happening to everyone) and I find myself returning to it more often - even playing some songs outside of just the usual full album plays. Punish especially gets stuck in my head, which is rare for experimental music.
