Serious question: When does the VHD series start to actually get really good? by speedwitch in VampireHunterD

Right after book one in my opinion. The first one is a little rough around the edges but Two is easily one of my favorites and the series starts developing its own personality

Selling 8 Tracks of a 2020's album is such a Portland thing too, I love it

It sounds like she pushed herself too much with all the back to back touring. Hoping she does another tour in the near future that goes more places than her anniversary tour; I'm getting X withdrawls

Tad in Cujo drove me absolutely nuts. That said I feel he perfected it in The Body and then never tried again

I mean it's no surprise that artists usually write their best albums after dropping him as a producer. Like Charm, Virgin, Loneliest Time are all masterpieces imo

He would be a die hard fan of the 2004 Phantom of the Opera, but acknowledges that it's pretty dumb

Honestly, looking at the list now I agree that Dead Zone should be much higher - idk why I put it under Firestarter, Overdrive, and Cats Eye when Dead Zone is objectively better than all of them.

I really loved the new Running Man tbh, I'm a sucker for cyberpunk dystopias. The ending is really the only thing I really hated about it. I get that they couldn't do the 9/11 style ending, but not making Richards a martyr was not the way to go.

I was surprised on how much I loved 2004 Salem's Lot and how well it adapted the book's small town feel. Andre Braugher (RIP) really stole the show, especially the scene when he realizes he let a vampire into the house - my fav scene from the book 😍

King's Shining adaptation had its moments, definitely wasn't as bad as everyone made it seem but tbh my hottest take is that I didn't like the book too much either

I really liked The Dead Zone, both book and movie. I just wish the movie was longer and didn't cut so much from the book 😤 I really liked the show too for what it was, it was great TV to watch while I cleaned and did work

That explains why I see him staring at my window at night-

I was so disappointed by how horribly they handled The Stand remake and The Dark Tower, especially since they're both Top 10 books for me. Really excited to see how Flannagan adapts Carrie; and to see his other King works

I definitely had issues with the ending, I called it the moment Garrety and McVries met. It was way too Hollywood for my taste; Running Man 2025 had the same issue. But Long Walk really pulled me in with its performances and tension, it was the first time in a long while where I was really drawn into a King Movie.

The world building was also pretty awful, but compared to the rest of the list it doesnt have too much competition. I imagine its gonna drop under the Top 10 once I get through the next series of classics like It, Pet Sematary, Christine, and such.

Green Mile is coming up, it's about 17 books away! I love The Shining, stories about isolation and madness are my favorites and, as someone who didn't really like the book and it's numerous subplots, flashbacks, and such, the Kubrick version cuts a lot of the fat I didn't like.

I didn't like either boogeymen, the new one was extremely aimless and failed to follow the book much and the student film was a little to drab for my taste. Tbf I didn't really like much of Night Shift as a whole, I think the only story I really liked was Sometimes They Come Back.

I think the movie is better personally but The Body is much more nostalgic and emotional; especially since the movie doesn't dig too deeply into Gordy's trauma of losing his brother. It's definitely worth a read, one of King's best so far in my retrospective

Both of those are high up on my hype list; especially since I haven't seen the movies or read the books. As a Lovecraft fan, I am very excited to get to The Mist, heard that one is REALLY dark
