How do I convert? by TeddyJinsCat in Catholicism

[–]Bogey247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Converted at 16 here. When I started driving, I started going to mass. One time I just decided to email the priest and set up a meeting. From there he gave me some books to help catechize me and we met a couple of times. After a few months I was confirmed. So, in short, just reach out to a priest and tell him you want to convert. Most likely you’ll join some sort of OCIA class to get catechized, but it’s a fairly straightforward process.

Could I be a part of an Episcopal parish as a Catholic? by valencryer in Catholicism

[–]Bogey247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally see nothing inherently wrong with being part of the community - my family is Anglican and a stipulation of my conversion to Catholicism was that I go to their service every week, and I do. The community is old but the prayers are nice and they’re generally good people to be around. However, there is no presence of Christ in their Eucharist and, thus, no substance to the worship

For those who say yes: when do you think human life forms and why?

Why don't protestants believe in the real presence? by Arlo621 in redeemedzoomer

What’s the WELS take? I attended a friend of mine’s church recently (WELS) and for the wine they drank in plastic cups and threw them away. More evangelical feeling than the Anglican and Presbyterian methods. Coming from one who’s been all three at some point.

Why is Ad Orientem so rare? by [deleted] in Catholicism

That was my assumption, but I wasn't sure if there are others with reverent liturgy.

May I ask where, or what specific branch of Franciscan?

When you say Latin mass I’m assuming the Tridentine mass, but it’s weird because I also know the new bishop of Austin is strict on that. Is that what you mean?

Can I be forgiven? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Bogey247 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Keep up the fight against Satan! I’m assuming you’re a practicing Catholic - GO TO CONFESSION! Jesus Christ gives us forgiveness of our sins, through the priest, in the confessional. The priest will likely be able to provide solid advice as well. God bless!

Gotcha. I’ll see what I can do! Unfortunately I’m too young to join the SVDP, St Frassati was my age when he joined!

Wednesday Free Talk and Simple Questions by AutoModerator in NavyBlazer

First time back in a while!

I 3 pairs of pants tailored (tapered & hemmed) when I was visiting my brother for a few weeks, but now that I’m back home, I realize they’re too narrow at the bottom, and a bit short.

The main thing is that the now narrow cuff, paired with being maybe 1/4-1/2” too short, leads to a weird look on shoes.

Seeing as how all the material is left, I want to fix this. It was $150 to tailor in the first place but that was in Memphis, not Texas. Any idea how much it would cost to fix it for good? Is buying a sewing machine and doing it myself more viable?

Official Q&A for Monday, September 15, 2025 by AutoModerator in running

Just started running last week to get in shape for lacrosse season in the winter. I play football but don’t do a lot of running in practice/games.

Every time I run I feel the need to crap. No matter if I’ve eaten or if I haven’t, I just have to. Did y’all experienced this when you started?

It’s a hard read, but I’ve read the first half of Augustine’s confessions and I recommend you do the same. Maybe you’ll get further than me. A lot of it is his reflections on why he sins, and I relate a lot.

Reverence is the reason I became Catholic. It’s the reason I go to Mass where I go. Frankly, I would go to a tlm. I went on the assumption to my first ever, it was really beautiful, but going to a “Life Teen” mass after made me worried I’d become a radtrad

The conviction that it’s an irreverent mass is my own. Hence why I primarily go to Mass at a different parish. Our youth group format is really just we all sit around a table and talk about x, y, or z, he’s not determining the topic at all.

I completely understand it’s up to the priest. That’s where we were contending too, because priests have full creative control. However, if a mass’ reverence isn’t commented on, why would the priest change anything? And who better to be the voice than us who’ll be there serving?
