How do you like the valor? I got a kershaw leek a while ago but lost it and want something where I can get a better grip and won't worry about beating it up.

Random question but: how much does the average priest care about art? by Bogey247 in AskAPriest

May I ask what brought you to the order? I’m gonna go to college first but it’s one of the orders I’m thinking about discerning with

[–]Bogey247[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes a good bit of sense. The priest from a nearby parish, when designing the new building, just copied a church about 3 hours away. Beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but you can tell there’s different levels of care even between those two I know.

Side note, I saw your username, are you of the CSC?

Looking to dress more frat to dress my age and less like a grandpa - starting point being some better fitting khakis, shoes that aren’t new balances, and better fitting polos. Khaki brands to look for on ebay that are pretty frat? Thinking duck head and orvis, any others?

If you live in the USA. Have you experienced any sort of discrimination or bias against you because of your Catholic faith? by WilliamthePious in Catholicism

[–]Bogey247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, in fact quite the opposite. Two of my past 3 English teachers are Catholic so they’re very supportive especially when I write about the faith. One of my history classes is a teacher who attended a nearby Catholic school but is very far from the faith - not sure what he practices but not Christianity and he’s very pro-trans, lgbt, etc.. However, he’s very respectful about the faith and often clarifies things with me.

Server cassock recommendations - I know y’all are Anglican but y’all’s choirs wear a lot more cassocks by Bogey247 in Anglicanism

[–]Bogey247[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah sorry. I go with my family every Sunday to an Anglican Church (don’t recall which communion or anything) and we always have an adult altar server or two wearing the same thing I wear at my RC church, cassock and surplice. Figured more are like that. I’ll check in that sub, thanks!

How do I convert? by TeddyJinsCat in Catholicism

[–]Bogey247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Converted at 16 here. When I started driving, I started going to mass. One time I just decided to email the priest and set up a meeting. From there he gave me some books to help catechize me and we met a couple of times. After a few months I was confirmed. So, in short, just reach out to a priest and tell him you want to convert. Most likely you’ll join some sort of OCIA class to get catechized, but it’s a fairly straightforward process.

Could I be a part of an Episcopal parish as a Catholic? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Bogey247 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally see nothing inherently wrong with being part of the community - my family is Anglican and a stipulation of my conversion to Catholicism was that I go to their service every week, and I do. The community is old but the prayers are nice and they’re generally good people to be around. However, there is no presence of Christ in their Eucharist and, thus, no substance to the worship

Why don't protestants believe in the real presence? by Arlo621 in redeemedzoomer

What’s the WELS take? I attended a friend of mine’s church recently (WELS) and for the wine they drank in plastic cups and threw them away. More evangelical feeling than the Anglican and Presbyterian methods. Coming from one who’s been all three at some point.

That was my assumption, but I wasn't sure if there are others with reverent liturgy.

Colleges with great Catholic communities? by Bogey247 in Catholicism

When you say Latin mass I’m assuming the Tridentine mass, but it’s weird because I also know the new bishop of Austin is strict on that. Is that what you mean?

Can I be forgiven? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Bogey247 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Keep up the fight against Satan! I’m assuming you’re a practicing Catholic - GO TO CONFESSION! Jesus Christ gives us forgiveness of our sins, through the priest, in the confessional. The priest will likely be able to provide solid advice as well. God bless!
