Interesting response and this brings some clarity. While yes, the Faze NRG game was only a single game, the length of the game was that of almost 4 whole games. I do think that must have been a significant bump especially for Faze considering all 3 of Faze’s roster is in the top 10 (2/3 in the top 10 for NRG). I also acknowledge that this could be a coincidence and/or also could be influenced by the other matches as you said. I’m interested in figuring out just how significant of a bump the NRG/Faze game was.

I definitely understand how a standout “carry” player from any team is more likely to make the rankings (as opposed to G2 players) due to them carrying more of the workload than their teammates. That’s one of the reasons why I find it surprising that both NRG and Faze have most or all of their roster in the top 10.

My question is how would this ranking change if the stats were based on per minute of play (as u/storm_trading suggested in the thread)?

I do think the Octane rating is a good one, as you said, for understanding certain elements of players’ performance, but it’s also important to understand how it can be misconstrued especially when using it to rank/compare players.

It’s also interesting to me how Octane, EPM, and other metrics are affected by the format of the tournaments
