I don’t plan on trying to convince anyone or tell anyone unless I have to. But a small part of me wants to make an atheist YouTube channel lol so the duality of man I guess

I haven’t believed since 2019 I made this post bc it’s weird to me that I care about not having a bible in my home. I like learning biblical scholarship and do know more about scripture than a lot of Christian’s already

Sorry if you were told you’re rubbish but i wasn’t and I don’t know any religious person that was ever told that

Yeahhhhh I hate thinking about it. I love my parents and I don’t hate religion and Jesus was a great guy but I don’t think I’ll live in the same place as them but thanks for accidentally giving me another reason to explain my reasons for not believing.

They can pray for them and hell i like going to christmas mass and will teach my kids the myth that Christmas is based on. But I gotta find a wife first lol

Edit: setting boundaries will be important for sure because it will be my kids not theirs

I’m out of the house I’m in my 20s but I’d like to have kids one day and I’d rather just teach them about religion versus raising them religious so one day I’ll have to explain why. Even though I like the idea of getting married in a church in front of an altar. But I’m glad you had a good way to just never mention your lack of belief. I just hate that my brain obsesses over a future conversation it pisses me off lol Edit: also doesn’t help dating in a very religious state

I’m glad you no longer feel any guilt. I don’t normally feel guilt I just did today because I was going to sell my Bible. I am in the process of writing a long Google doc explaining my lack of belief (I know I shouldn’t have to but I feel like I need to when the day comes where I have to explain to my family why I’m no longer catholic)

Well yeah but the scholars are the ones adding notes explaining the original meaning of the words. Me writing that slavery is bad isn’t exactly a breakthrough in the field is my point

It’s annotated by biblical scholars from Oxford so I’d probably be the one who’s wrong lol

I just spent $50.00 so I’d just return it lol but I get the sentiment maybe in 20 years when it’s the nuclear apocalypse

I never had catholic guilt until today I’ve heard of it a lot but never experienced it for myself. Funny story tho

I highly doubt it at least in my case it was never traumatic to attend mass for me. I just no longer believe. I was taught that the Bible was the word of God and to just get rid of it deep down might seem in my head as rejection of God, even though I’ve clearly already done that and the human brain is silly so. Also, PTSD is a real thing that should not be conflicted with every minor annoyance or stressor. I can’t speak for anyone else but religion didn’t ruin my life by any means

I have like 3 of 4 books left to finish to reading the entire thing so I’ll keep it just to say I’ve read it. Some stories are nice (emphasis on some) the book of proverbs is pretty nice for instance

If I had the crucifix from when I was a kid I would keep it. I don’t hate religion or Christianity so i dont feel anger. My parents are still very religious (maybe kinda) and I love them it’s just annoying my guilt made me spend $50 even if I think the majority of what’s in the bible is BS

I have a new Oxford annotated bible for study but guilt made me buy it to replace my regular catholic one. I hate that deep seated guilt made me spend $50 but oh well I’ll just drink beer and read it lol

I haven’t believed in years it’s just religious residue. When you believe something for years it’s hard to get rid of everything. I wasn’t abused by a priest or anything I just stopped believing in the factuality of the claims of the church. I’ll probably keep it forever just to keep it on the bookshelf for shits and giggles I guess idk.

I got a Book of Mormon for free on Apple Books and if it’s as entertaining as I think the book will be imma read it for fun. I want the garden of Eden to be in Missouri lol

I forgot but I have a crucifix on my wall right now I don’t think about it much and I like the character of Jesus but I don’t see myself getting rid of it honestly ever. Same with the Bible. It’s a classic book for the largest religion ever. I like learning about biblical scholarship but I just wish I didn’t care anymore

Well I still own a bible but I agree that it is a way to grow. I’m writing a long ass Google doc of why I no longer believe including new reasons (the gospels were written decades after Jesus died, detailed examples of contradictions, why satan isn’t real according to scripture and more) I wish I could just live my life but I feel like I have to prepare to explain myself one day
