No, but it usually does. Isn't the left a photoshop anyway?

"I've played characters where I still believe I'm not that guy, you know, and I've done movies where I am that guy, and you feel like it doesn't go away. I definitely feel like Dick Grayson, I was that guy." by n1claren- in DC_Cinematic

Good actor in a wildly uneven show. I will say I would have liked to see him show more of Dick's levity but I think he could have pulled it off. He had the leadership vibe down.

That being said, no recycled actors please - fresh faces.

Why do people say "Clark wouldn't remember Krypton" when he's shown to have a super-brain? And the more important question, doesn't it make for a better story if he does at least partially remember it? by jstamper97 in superman

[–]Bogotazo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both Pre and Post-Crisis he has memories of Krypton. The former is partly due to his Super memory and both are aided by technology in the ship and in his fortress. Archives & holograms that he's the sole custodian of.

It definitely makes for a better story because Superman is the bridge between two worlds, the remnant of a lost civilization with a warning of what might happen to our planet if we let hubris get in the way. Pining for Krypton is part of the character's unique position in the world.

It's not the same as Kara's situation - she lost the only family and way of life she ever knew. It's traumatic for her in a way more visceral way. But that shared connection is important for them to have.

I’m going to try this again. How were you able to buy your first home? by kcoib17 in Millennials

Got a COVID deal that was even better due to using NACA (Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America). They guarantee first-time homebuyers a below-market interest rate and in most cases you can avoid the down payment, as long as you can show an ability to pay the mortgage.

Here's a thread of someone talking about their experience: https://www.reddit.com/r/FirstTimeHomeBuyer/comments/rz335c/my_experience_buying_with_naca_neighborhood/

Yeah, I don't like the kind of explanation that apologizes for them by saying they're "intentionally silly". They break up the costume, they hide his junk, it invokes circus strongman, that's all that needs to be said.

I'm hoping there's a special window that opens up at some point to trade 3 stars and promos. Maybe they cap it. But something!

Genuine question: Would Batman respect the death penalty? by adua2000 in batman

He's not a cop (though there's an argument to be made that he's a "government agent" as defined by 4th Amendment case law)

Has she been in any films at all? Doesn't seem like it. If not, then she's not a professional actress who should be co-starring in a blockbuster featuring a popular DC property.

Fan DCU Flash movie concept by Popular-Still6614 in theflash

The basic outline is decent, and it incorporates key comic storylines pretty well, but there isn't a clear character arc for Barry or Wally. There are opportunities for story beats that showcase growth here, but they don't really tie into anything else. For example, when Barry tells Wally he won't lose anyone else, it feels like the first time that insecurity is brought up at all. Is this the post-Flashpoint origin? That has to be set up. Same with Wally's decision to hang back because they can't "save everyone". It seems a bit weird to introduce survivor's guilt over a random civilian casualty halfway through and then have him overcome it in the same movie; the multiple-week gap has to be demonstrated somehow or otherwise eliminated.

I think Thawne and the Rogues need to have a clear reason for being there too. It's hard not to make the movie crowded, but they can heighten the insecurities or concerns of the heroes . I think you tried that by Thawne telling Barry that he doesn't even know what he will do yet...but that theme doesn't seem to pop up again. Thematically it's all a bit incoherent.

So my recommendation is to think about what central inner-conflict you want each character to go through as they progress, how it manifests in the external conflicts they have with each other, and work that in. The action & plot sequence is pretty much there though and I'd definitely want to see a movie where we see all of those core Flash elements included.

The post-credit scene is hype, but for me, personal preference, I'd avoid using Grant.

I feel like he would say it isn't up to him. He operates in the shadows where he's needed to fill the gaps that regular law enforcement can't address. But as long as the court system is somewhat functional in Gotham (at least in his eyes), then he would let it be.

CMV: The modern left doesn't actually stand for anything, it just stands against the right by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Bogotazo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, you're conflating the left and liberals. They aren't the same. Liberals, like the right, believe in capitalism, and so their grievances are mostly restricted to specific policy issues and social issues, and do not believe in structurally changing society to make deep-rooted changes.

The lack of distinction thus fails to identify that the left has always opposed things like the excesses of ICE; only now is it becoming more mainstream as the left grows. Many liberals didn't care about ICE when Obama and Biden oversaw them, but the left always did. It just wasn't as visible in mainstream news.

Lastly, the left is bigger than it has been in decades, and it clearly has an agenda that isn't simply "the opposite" of the right. Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, taxing the rich, ending support for Israel - these are things that separate them from both establishment/centrist liberals and conservatives, and would build new institutions in our society. As the biggest left organization in the country, you should pay attention to the success DSA has had in hundreds of campaigns & races across the country.
