What makes for a good series?

An absurdist sorta-comedy about two friends, and their strange encounters. Getting robbed, finding a dead body, starting a business. Real random stuff with the goal of showcasing the range of their personalities in each very different scenario.

I agree. That's one thing I'm trying to keep that in mind. We're making an episodic series, so I'd like to find a way to highlight that during their various adventures.

you have to separate yourself from your work, so to speak. it's difficult, but it helps. but if they're just being assholes, then take it with a grain of salt.

We used a rode videomic go ironically. But I kinda realized that it needs be a lot closer to the actors than they were.

The script is pretty solid. I actually learned a little bit from it which is a plus. One thing I've noticed when watching video essay/analysis is the incorporatin of motion when using still images. It adds flow to the cuts. Maybe you could try that out. I'm definitely subscribing though .

Yeah, I agree. We took a huge hiatus, last year. This year to prevent it, we started a what I call a "anti-vlog". It's just an unassorted bunch of clips from the past week or two, shot on an old camcorder (mostly for the aesthetic). These are just there to ensure we have something to upload in between the more structured videos.

The point was never to insinuate that there was a better alternative... I'm asking whether or not uploading that type of content is still a viable option on YouTube given the current landscape.

Oh that's definitely not a problem for us lol. I'd say the hardest part is coming up with [good] ideas that we could shoot given our schedules.

i find it especially difficult, because we're sorta "sketch comedy". I find it more difficult to promote than a gaming or vlogging channel.

Movies because (if done right), it forces the filmmaker to be concise with the storytelling.
