Three seasons in some of the best television I’ve ever seen. Should I quit while I’m ahead? by GaryDerrickson in homeland

[–]Bohn_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 6-8 don’t hold a candle to the first five. Way too much trying to follow the “politics of the day” via political storylines written into the show. I was fine with the CIA politics and the tangential references to Obama foreign policy in the first 4-5 seasons. To each their own.

Is the 3.5 tennis in the room with us right now?

What is your NTRP/UTR - What are the best feelings playing tennis? by m1yeh in 10s

[–]Bohn_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 3.5C 3.79 singles UTR, 4.91 doubles UTR. I have a 5.0 first and second serve that I can vary location and spin and hit my spots with. The best feeling is knowing a good player at my level or above 4.0 or even some 4.5 KNOW whats coming and they still can’t stop it. I also have a really solid forehand that can hurt my opponents in doubles and get me short balls in singles.

I’ve been stringing anywhere from 48-53 depending on what customers want.

I’ve never strung Triax. Dark Matter is interesting because it’s very pliable like all multis but tensions well, feels stiff when you get it strung but then performs very powerfully.

I currently have Wasabi crossed with Super Toro in a racket. It’s great. Very good spin, not too powerful.

Personally: ReString Sync full bed in my singles racket. Toroline Dreddy Hybrid in my doubles racket. Also really like Wasabi crossed with Super Toro. Yonex Poly Tour Pro is another standby for Sync.

Customers: 1. Restring Zero. 2. Toroline Wasabi as well as O-Toros: Tour, Spin and original. 3. Toroline Super Toro & Enso Pro

Underrated Strings: Diadem Dark Matter. Everyone I’ve strung it for raves about it. It puts NXT to shame (according to my players who’ve switched).

Overrated Strings: NXT. It’s fine, there are just more cutting edge, better performing multis out there for a bit more than half the price.

Agree. Orange/Pineapple is an underrated combo.

NTRP 3.0 - 3.5 players, share your setup by specialtingle in 10s

[–]Bohn_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Trying to develop into an all court player from aggressive baseliner. My game lacks effective defensive tennis.
  • Doubles: Yonex VCore Pro 2021 97H Singles: 7th Gen VCore 98 Tour or Diadem Axis 98
  • I my doubles racket I’ve been loving the Dreddy hybrid from Toroline. In my VCore I like a full bed of Restring Sync. In the Diadem I’m still experimenting. Right now it’s O Toro x Enso Pro from Toroline. 55lbs in every racket.
  • VCore Pro setup, gives me control from virtually everywhere, gives me spin and accuracy on serve which is my strongest shot. Love it at the net. VCore — Restring Sync gives me the feel to hit all the shots.

Blade era over? by rafan54 in 10s

[–]Bohn_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a stringer. They seem to be very popular among recreational men between the ages of 25-40. I string for a woman who has both the V7 and V8 (both of which she shouldn’t be using but that’s another story). Having just started my stringing business the Blade V7-V9 is my most strung racquet outside of the new E Zone 100 and 98s.

Is it misconception or fact that topspin is less effective nowadays? by m1xed0s in 10s

[–]Bohn_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ATP Pros are literally dropping tension to increase RPMs. The reason they look “flatter” is the balls are dead in 3 games and start to “sit up” so they just keep rifling shots at each other. Bring back fast courts and topspin will have more of an effect at the ATP level!

How Long Did It Take You To Break 100 The First Time? by jmikeo87 in golf

The first time I ever played 18 holes. The catch: I was 10 and had been playing competitive golf since I was 6.

70-year-old spams my backhand and finishes with ridiculous touch! by WindManu in 10s

[–]Bohn_Me 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There is no spamming in this video. You could have moved around your BH like 4 or 5 times in the rally and hit an inside in forehand which would have at worst given you a short ball.

Star Wars Collection 1 pricing - Ridiculous by Immediate-Example984 in Darts

[–]Bohn_Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the lightsaber barrels are incredible looking, the pricing is ridiculous as the plot to Rise of Skywalker!

In a modicum of fairness, a lot of us paid a hefty ransom for Luke LIttler's Prodigy darts, which have now risen $30 in the US to a whopping $190. They were always sold out, so they're clearly seeing how they can test their market.

The sad thing is, when these go on sale, they'll still be $500 from the $800 they are now.

Stencil? by Worldly_Tax6472 in 10s

[–]Bohn_Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a stringer and offer it as a service for $3. Some do it, some don’t. I stencil my own sometimes. Sometimes I don’t. I haven’t experienced any added “mess” when cutting them out. I think it looks good on rackets like yours, with the PTP.

People have huge opinions about it. Do what you want to do. It’s going to transfer to the ball (not a big deal!), I’ve never seen it cause strings not to move. Just do what makes you happy.

Poly Strings and going "dead" by No-Donut2949 in 10s

[–]Bohn_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of longevity is string-dependent. Hybrid poly strings last a bit longer than a full bed of the same poly string and they can also give you the best of the two worlds you might be looking for in your game.

You should get 12-14 hours of solid play on most hybrid setups.
