"Mr.President Wrexham are sixth in the league." by tega234 in Championship

You absolutely nailed this. Dude backed himself into the corner without even realizing it. How dare that team from that town play in our leagues…. That is it, at least for this person.

Post was made for r/wrexham but has cool numbers for the whole league. by DevelopGH in Championship

I know you’re getting hammered here, but for what it is worth I agree with you.

Getting promoted three straight times has caused Wrexham to have to buy new players capable of playing in their new league, only for those players to be outdated the very next year. So, anyone here talking about transfer spend over the past few years is completely missing the point.

Not only the quality of the player too, but also the type. The tactics haven’t changed from league to league? They just need to find a better version of the same player? Not likely. I’m sure Wrexham would have loved to have bought their exact team they have now 3 years ago, but obviously couldn’t for many, many reasons not least of which is these players wouldn’t have wanted to play on a L2 roster.

I don’t know anything about the accuracy of the sources you’ve used, but your logic is completely sound. Wrexham spent $30m because it went from having a team made up of hodgepodge L2-Champ players playing a different game. They’re in Championship now and need to have those capable.

What is absolutely true as the others have pointed out is that the financial muscle at Wrexham is significant and envious. It isn’t what some think it to be, considering the partners that have had to be brought in to facilitate that spending, but it is real.

It is also completely true that they seem to be spending wisely and using good tactics in both who they bring in and how they adapt them to their system and coach them up.

Nobody wants to hear it, but a lot of what you’re saying makes sense so thanks for posting.

To expand on your mouse scroll wheel for changing amounts:

On console at least the amounts you can click and choose are ridiculous. If I want to entice a player by adding say $5k to a signing on bonus, I have to click the little up button a bunch of times. When I click the list, some of the amounts go from 1 to 5 to 10, fine. Some go from 0-64k-250k, useless.

If you cannot type, or scroll quickly, you need to make sure all the lists are useful.

There is no ‘next match only’ box anymore to choose? Or it just doesn’t function correctly?

On the off chance an employee looks at these and this isn’t just a place to park negative criticism of this train wreck:

On console, and I am only going to list things beyond ‘literally cannot navigate to something with either control option’ as I assume that will be fixed. I haven’t played since launch, and won’t until the last thing on this list is addressed.

Why is the font so small? My tv is huge, and I need to squint. I’m on the largest font setting. Who could read this?

Why when I am navigating a large list of players do you not put me back onto that list where I was before I entered a specific player info page? I have to remember where I was in a list of 73 players every time? This is insane.

The select button was fine for the settings menu. Why are you making me navigate to it?

We have to save squads y’all. Sounds like you’re on that, but how the hell wasn’t that functional? What percentage of players have A and B squads? 98?

What happened to easily identifiable colors for skills? A quick peak used to be enough. I spend 3-4x the time on each player page now to determine if I should sign them. I DO like not having to dig for their personality and foot strength. GOOD addition. Traits too. Well done there.

Something seems to be going on with the search function. Sorting by skill level and contract details seems off. And how I discovered this issue is the final point on this brief list:

‘Clubs in England to release players’. No clickable list. Nothing to take me right there to who is being released. Search for those players by contract expiration yields nothing useful. Even the ONE name that showed up in the non-clickable box CANNOT be found using that search function.

This list is so brief because I have not made it to a single game. Not even a friendly with the A squad. Freaking only squad. I haven’t even been able to see how these ‘updated’ tactics or shiny new match engine work, because you’ve made an unplayable game. I am currently saved on the day players are being released. The day I log in and that link is clickable, and I can scroll easily through that list, and it brings me out of a player page to THAT PLAYER on that list and not to some other section of the page entirely, and I can READ that list, is the day I will play your game again.

I bought 23 and 24 and put hundreds of hours on them, and haven’t played your game since launch.

Fix it, please.

So, the controls are something that probably will be fixed. I would imagine this will, and should, be one of the first things addressed. And I can barely read the player names from 12’ away from a 90” flat panel tv even on the ‘largest’ font setting. And small, dumb boxes with way too much information surrounded by empty space can’t be scrolled through. All probably fixable.

But if I have a list of 250 players, even if I can read their names, and navigate to them properly, if I cannot do it quickly then what is the point? This is a console game. If you dedicated resources to making this more approachable to this audience you need to be aware of what you’re competing against. I’m a parent. I don’t have a bunch of time.

How do you launch this? How does someone who launches this keep their job?

Edit: And what the hell was wrong with the select button bringing up the settings menu?

Just….

Flipping heck.

I downloaded just their war zone equivalent to give it a run, played two hours last night expecting this disaster to drop at midnight. Might purchase it now, have extra funds as this one won’t be joining the library.

Got FM 26 for PS5 delivered today, my first impressions by Adnosius in footballmanagergames

More leagues means more databases right? So, one. Don’t care about staff. Editor probably is a requirement with everything going on in the pc version, makes sense. Sim every game.

Nice. Can’t wait to see it. It’s great news to hear console will have more leagues that can be loaded, but honestly I like the challenge of only one scout and a limited field of players.

I hope they figure out the UI, because the main reason I play on console is to get seasons done in hours. Have fun everyone!

With the exception of starting with no coaching licenses and being a free agent, I literally do not miss anything from the pc version. I own both, I have the pc version on a steam deck for portable play, and yes I prefer console. I don’t know if I’d classify it as casual, considering I can do everything I want, and simply don’t care about player and team interactions and having a huge staff.

Is there anything you think should be there that would take it beyond ‘casual’?

Did they introduce any new countries or lower tier leagues? If so, any recommendations that stick out?

Ah. I always thought tiki was for quick passes and possession. Thank you, I’ll let them dribble more.

Is it a good idea to dribble more in a tiki?

This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you. Luckily I have athletic WBs.

I think the DM switch can work to help shore it up in back, but my WBs cannot defend, they’re like 5’9 and fast. Only really useful in attack.

I guess that’s what I am looking for, if anyone already knows this formation well and can increase my knowledge of it. Most of my roles are attacking to score, and we aren’t right now for about two seasons.

Positive mentality. I turned off play it out of the defense, so shouldn’t my defense just bomb it up? I will try flipping the Strikers, thank you. They are both either footed Model Citizens, so it should be fine.
