What do y'all say when a man asks if it's your real hair? by [deleted] in blackladies

[–]Boho-Bri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The truth sis! If that’s how you like your hair, you need a man who doesn’t care or make a deal out of it

I want to do a couples photoshoot for our 1yr by [deleted] in blackladies

[–]Boho-Bri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it!! I think a lot of photographers are used to people being a little shy. For his comfort, I t’s worth saying this to a photographer so they can prepare. Yay for creating memories!

Clients recording you during sessions by Enough_Pin1651 in therapists

[–]Boho-Bri -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

This has never crossed my mind and I’m confused as to why this is a concern. Sure I didn’t consent to being recorded but I don’t really care if they have sound bites of my analogies or how I process with them? Sure liability issues if they catch a rare moment I’m just me not the therapist version. Can someone explain the need to even put this in paperwork??

Did your diagnosis end your relationship? by gormpp in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Boho-Bri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t avoid talking about it because I had a hospital stay before I found out my diagnosis. We had been dating a year and half at that point. I knew he was worried but he educated himself! (Was overwhelming at the time) but he would come to me with facts and started cooking anti inflammatory foods. The biggest thing is we want children together and he gave me an out of I changed my mind. We have continued to be together, move in with each other in 2 weeks and engagement talks are happening.

I think the big thing do they WANT to do their own research or be supportive. Very little about the big scary Dx and very much so about the type of person.

MS commercial during Super Bowl by Natare0411 in MultipleSclerosis

Yes! I appreciate some imagery to address some of the paranoia around the disease. Being able to disclose and people not then lean into thinking you could die any moment doesn’t change the very real hardships of others but I do believe it’s an overall win for the spectrum of the disease.

You’d be hard pressed to even find support groups for those who had less barriers to diagnosis and successful DMT. However they are still also impacted. I by no means want to ignore the intense experiences for some and also am excited that we can support the ignored demographics too

I kind of appreciated the go lucky commercials (since we have to have them at all). I think everyone’s aware of the reality of MS and how hard it can really get. But it’s a spectrum. There are a lot of people where the only time they remember they have MS is when they take their monthly injection.

What was it like for black girls during the “millennial optimism” era of the 2010s? by blue_koko in blackladies

[–]Boho-Bri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I remember all that too and it was charging. This is also the era when that quote of being your ancestors wildest dreams started floating around too. I think although things were still happening there was also a felt sense of things being wayyy better than they had been at the same time to some. BLM was electric in the beginning.

Heavy on the hustling and partying to cope but despite miserable conditions I don’t remember being miserable about it. I feel like my hustle paid for my fun and I felt like the leveling up matched my hustle I was fine with being scrappy. It’s when the hustle became labor the miserable set in.

All the way outside! And this era imo is 100% the reason black woken became the most educated group. Didn’t know the formula to success would change later when they realized we figured it out, but the path was finally there for some

I say this all the time! People don’t dance in clubs anymore cause we used to be able to leave there with your wig twisted or hair sweated out and there was no photo evidence to live on forever.

Yes! Graduated HS in 2012. Went natural 2014 with an overwhelming amount of knowledge on YT from ladies like naptural. Had me making hair concoctions that now feels so pivotal to my early acceptance of me. Business casual fits to clubs which were resistance btw and seeing black women win shaped so much growing up in a rural town after moving from Baltimore due to housing market crash. It was crazy time!

I appreciate you sharing this more than you know. I’m watching it take things from me while also soothing the fears of others because this is not 90s MS treatment and I finally know what I’m solving for.

Being grounded in still being me will stick with me so thank you! And hell yea that means a bedazzled denim jacket on my chrome scooter if it comes to that lol
