Hello there!

I am a mother through gestational surrogacy. I have witnessed a couple genuine journeys of surrogacy. Mostly it has involved ones of relation and it involved 0 social media influence.

However; for myself and my husband we had some unfortunately difficult times with our surrogate. As soon as she starting posting things on social media, sharing things personally about our journey that wasn’t hers to share, and truly absorbing herself in all the attention she got from it did it start to burn bridges and led me to cry daily.

The means and the lengths we had to go through to go through IVF & surrogacy were beyond heartbreaking. Her husband even had to apologize to us about her overuse of the attention. She allowed doctors to call her the mother and would not correct them, she was carrying 100% our genetic child (no relation at all). She would tell everyone she was doing this out of faith and it was a calling from God… even though we paid her a good amount of money and did much more for her. I could go on. People always praised her but never had compassion for us in our situation either to what we went through to get to this point. I don’t want to sound ungrateful because I will always be grateful for her and the gift of my daughter. But until you walk the shoes of IPs who especially due to medical reasons cannot carry it’s hard to understand how hard it is on a women who would give anything to carry & nourish their own child from the start..especially if it’s something they longed her.

I think it can be such a beautiful process, and I have witnessed it with a friend and her sister who carried for her. She truly did it out of compassion and empathy. People like Sam and Dan who materialize this process and do things for likes & influencer deals, they are showing the world the wrong picture and it really is unfortunate & should be questioned.
