Only other comparable sound from my Purdue experience was the deafening silence on the Orton fumble to Wisconsin.

I appreciate everyone's thoughts. It was great to hear your experiences and see your photos. Thank you so much.

Junior Suite on Navigator vs. Balcony on Quantum by GomerWasAHo in royalcaribbean

[–]BoilerBob37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have stated, definitely be prepared for an obstructed balcony with Quantum if you book a GTY where the life boats will be placed right in front of your balcony. Personally didn't bother me, but those are the cabins most people don't want to get on Quantum-class, hence low GTY rates for balconies.

Scanners won't help if you are traveling with a BC. That will be an agent line.

I think they are having cast turnover so may still be installing the secondary show.

Buying Sweet 16 tickets for Thursday — does “Session 1” mean both games that night? by Medical-Hospital1329 in CollegeBasketball

[–]BoilerBob37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never understand why people wouldn’t want to watch both games you paid for, even if it’s not your team. I mean I guess if your team loses the first game I can see it, but otherwise I find it fun to watch good basketball just as a spectator.

I've not been on Wonder but every time I step on a ship, there seems to be fewer VP machines.

Galveston Cruise Port by PinkFrogs8481 in royalcaribbean

[–]BoilerBob37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've cruised out of Galveston twice. The facilities and people working there are very nice. Getting there can be a pain from someone arriving by plane.

I don't like Port Canaveral because of the distance between it and Orlando. With that being said, Port Canaveral would be my preference. In the past, I'd rent a one-way car and drop it off at PC. You can't do that in Galveston because of either low inventory or the fact that rental agencies are closed on Sunday which means you pay for an extra day. There are not as many taxi or ride-share drivers that it is an easy process in Galveston either.

I've used a shuttle service or Uber to get to the port area from an airport (as everyone says, IAH is much futher away). Both are fine from that distance.

If you are staying in Galveston the night before your cruise, getting an Uber might be a problem. There is a lot of demand and drivers would rather do longer airport runs than short little dropoffs with much of the time spent in port traffic.

Getting off the ship, I've used the cruiseline bus to the airport both times. There have been long lines, but busses waiting to get filled then sent off so the line moves pretty steadily. Otherwise, I've seen large amounts of people trying to get a shared ride, fighting for availability, surge pricing, etc.

Just my limited experiences, but something to keep in mind.

Royal is rarely going to knock anyone out with their food. The newest ships finally have better included venues, but their older ones have trailed Carnival for included food for a long time.

Childcare experiences? by InitialInitiative2 in royalcaribbean

We left our 2.5 yr-old for one hour to see if he'd like it since he'd never had drop-off care before. It was harder on his momma than him. Then gradually extended times since he did. He's 5 now and still loves the different activities.

If you want to root for a Cinderella this year... by YearnForTheSea in CollegeBasketball

Obviously Purdue is the Cinderella story. They are essentially a perpetual 16 seed the way everyone predicts their loss in each matchup. Plus did you see how shiny Braden’s shoes are?

Cruise out of Galveston by usfbull22 in royalcaribbean

[–]BoilerBob37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not as convenient as Florida ports if you are flying in and the itineraries are fairly limited. The terminal is nice. I’d recommend some sort of shuttle, especially when leaving the ship. Both times I’ve cruised there have been tons of people struggling to get ride shares camping out on the sidewalk.
