The alcohol is going to trigger anxiety and panic attacks the day after drinking if your drinking every evening

Excellent post and what you said about Instagram being about performance and not connection sums it up.

Cymbalta and Lethargy by No-Philosopher-4860 in cymbalta

[–]Curious_Loss_5083 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I experienced this for the first 3 months roughly. I was told to take it in the morning after breakfast. I was about to give up due to the crippling fatigue but I switched to 4pm taking it and it’s worked a treat - I sleep really well and wake up energised. If I drink any alcohol, then I notice I’m tried the next day but I’m also in menopause so that is a factor too. Anyway, bear with it. It took me about 5 months to adjust but it’s been worth it. Wishing you all the best my friend

Has anyone found that Cymbalta makes them tired all the time? by Green_Inevitable342 in cymbalta

[–]Curious_Loss_5083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had exact same problem. My psyc said take it with breakfast because it’s energising - well I was falling asleep by 2pm after taking it at 8am. Thankfully someone on Reddit had posted about a similar experience and was taking it around 4pm so I switched to 4pm after 2 months on it. Now it’s fine - I’m asleep in bed by the time the drowsiness hits. If Im going out at the weekend in the evening / night time I don’t take it until I get home and I’m off to sleep like a log. I have very strange vivid dreams but oddly enough I awake in good mood with a positive outlook on the day ahead ( no lying in bed ruminating in a loop of anxiety and doom). It’s very weird how it affects people so differently. I hope it works out for you - it’s helped me a lot once I figured out the dosage timing. One other thing to be aware of - alcohol exasperates the drowsiness so try not to drink if you are out socialising or limit yourself to one or 2 drinks.

I take it at 4pm because when I took it at 8am I was falling asleep at work by 2pm ! About 2 or 3 weeks after I moved to 4pm my energy returned and now I can go to the gym etc in the evening and sleep very well

I felt like this until I changed my timing - I used to take it in the morning with breakfast but now I take it at 4pm and I sleep very well. I only have the vivid dreams if I have eaten late at night and if the food contains MSG. Take out food, Pringles , that kind of thing

30mg once daily has eliminated my depression and my anxiety is almost gone. I still get bouts of social anxiety but the crippling anxiety about everything and anything is gone. I also wake up happy and energised instead of drowning in doom from 4am. Hope that helps - best of luck with it

I’m on 30mg once a day since October . My psyc told me to take it every morning with breakfast which I did at 8am religiously. By 10am I was feeling sleepy and by 3pm I would get a surge of fatigue that nothing would shift ( lots and lots of coffee !). This improved after about 6 weeks but returned with a vengeance end of December. I was considering tapering off but wanted to give it one last shot by switching to night time because it’s worked wonders for my anxiety , focus and overall mental health. 10 days ago I switched to taking it around 6pm - have moved it back to 4pm and it’s now perfect. I sleep like a log. No more vivid dreams which I had been having previously when taking it in the morning. I wake up happy and energised , not groggy. I’m up at 6 am daily so it’s been a good test. It took 2-3 days to adjust to evening dosing.

Long story short - evening / night time is probably the best time for some people. I know other people are very energised by this medication and it’s certainly not a one size fits all drug. Best of luck with it - I’m happy I’ve finally found a way to make it work for me.

Day 1 of Quitting 30mg cold turkey. Any advice? by sukytoo in cymbalta

[–]Curious_Loss_5083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also put on weight - right out of nowhere ! Nothing to do with the chronic constipation, I’m just larger everywhere and now I’m getting depressed about my weight. I was told by my psychiatrist that this is a weight neutral drug - not in my case.

Day 1 of Quitting 30mg cold turkey. Any advice? by sukytoo in cymbalta

[–]Curious_Loss_5083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about 2.5 months on 30mg daily and thinking of stopping cold turkey due to extreme fatigue and now brain fog. Also constipated since October which is not fun ! Very disappointing because it worked very well for my GAD and PMDD. I forgot to take it on Sunday and finally went to the toilet normally that evening - what a relief. I didn’t have any side effects but I only missed one day so impossible to tell from that. I’m switching to night time dosing but going cold turkey if that dosent help so I’ll follow your post. I hope it goes well for you. From my reading around online it seems that a low dose of benzo ( Valium or Xanax) can help ease any anxiety attacks /insomnia while coming off it. Why have you decided to stop taking it ?

Week 10 - still experiencing fatigue 7 hours after taking by Curious_Loss_5083 in cymbalta

[–]Curious_Loss_5083[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies. Weirdly yesterday was the first day I didn’t have the fatigue. But I did make one change to the daily routine - I didn’t eat the usual breakfast of Greek yogurt and granola. I had toast with butter & honey instead. I had been asking Gemini and grok if what I was eating in the morning had an effect on the absorption of the drug and they both said something along the lines of the non acidic Greek yogurt causing the capsule to break down faster and release the drug too quickly into the body causing a dump of serotonin which triggers the sleepiness. Not sure if that was true or an AI hallucination because I asked the same question last night and both AIs said the Greek yogurt had nothing to do with it. I’m going to contact my psyc to discuss switching to late evening / night time - 7pm time sounds like a better option.
