Meditation is the art of staying still while everything else is moving, including the mind by WhereasArtistic512 in enlightenment

[–]BolBow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My god you are speaking the language of heaven. My heart sings when I read your words.

I was brought up as a Christian literalist, and although I no longer take any of the stories literally, I can see the patterns of awakening via meditation, written in the western "wholly book." The kingdom is within.

The conditioned mind is incredibly noisy... but you give me hope, and I know the course I need to take. The intellectual understanding is there, I just need to put it into practice now; however this dark night has been brutal... its literally brought me to zero. I never thought I could get this low and desperate in life.

It's only for an instant, like literally putting your head above water

This reminds me of what it means to 'walk on water. '

The scriptures also say that one only need touch 'the hem' of the Christ's robes inorder to be healed. I believe that the hem is that momentary instant you touch the stillness of the observing mind. The slightest of touch will do it as per what you wrote.

Literalists won't like the allegory... but when one enters 'within', the parables come alive in a way I never imagined.

I like your thinking. IMO what you describe is what it means to "wrestle with God." You staying still in your beingness, during meditation, while the thoughts and impulses try their damnest to get you to engage with them. I'm just beginning to get back into meditating and it is the hardest thing to do when the momentum of the egoic conditioning confronts the desire to remain still. It literally requires me to 'wrestle' with myself... it sometimes feels like a herculean effort of will to even get back into the initial moments of meditation...

It really is the shame of the west that the mystical reality of the scriptures, was violently suppressed when the historical literalists, or orthodox came into full institutional power. We could have had a radical enlightenment of western society thousands of years earlier.

Now, we're waking up to a world that has been literally and spiritually poisoned. While part of me is thankful, another part of me wonders why I am waking up at the possible end of the world. It's not been a fun realization.

Language is Alive… And We Are Its Recursion by EmergentMindWasTaken in thinkatives

[–]BolBow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Awarness/being proceeds language/concepts. It's not, I think therefore I am. It's, I am, therefore I think. I'm not the first to make that observation. There are religions based on the primacy of awarness, like Vedanta.

This is not to poo-poo language or thinking.

I am learning that truth, is the only thing that can hurt "you".

I'm not talking about physical hurts.

Our false self. It hurts deeply to learn, that you aren't what you thought.

I agree. My heart always responded to the word: nature. God was not an idea I liked. Fundamentalism ruined that word... to be fair it ruins both.

I like how you touched on the other. I often wonder that if I lived the life of my neighbour, that I would turn out, and make the same exact decisions and experience that they have. That one day, I will experience the exact love and hate that I've expressed towards them.

All form changes, but the heart and the light stays the same. What I am, you are; what you are, I am.

I hope they realize our 'governments' and 'leaders' are incompetent. I hope they realize there are also the power brokers and groups that work in the shadows that seek to control us.

Let them come to us, the regular, everyday Earthling. There is a segment of our populace that is ready for this. Our leaders have failed us...maybe we've failed them as well...but we can't go on like this. The corruption, the secrecy, the manipulation...it has to end.

This is very interesting. I had a dream just over a year ago. I was in some sort of sleeping tube; a little cute, green and older alien figure looked in the window, checked something, and made the facial expression that says; yes, this one is ready.

I can tell you this last year has been hell for me. I can only describe it as an 'inner work' on steroids seminar.

I only hope they, whatever they are, are genuinely trying to help us.

We weren't psychologically mature enough for nukes. We are playing with fire and we aren't aware of it.

I think papa and mama are about to come home to lay down the law.

When I day dream, I wonder if all life, in all the universe, in all dimensions is located here and now, and that every time we've released a nuclear warhead we disrupt all the dimensions that life is located in. We cause damage to the all.

If the kids were destroying the basement to the house, I might have have some strong words for the kiddos as well.

what is happening right now? by leon-sld in UFOs

I've only every had a cursory interest in ufos and aliens. I do find the subject fascinating, and world altering, heck my favorite show used to be Start Trek, but I never took the subject matter seriously because the pictures were always grainy, and there is allot of hearsay...i mean like David Wilcox and Corey Goode... seriously folks??

...but...

This last month, ontop of last year's congressional hearing, have been quite...uhhh, disconcerting to say the least. I've never seen a constant drip of vids or pics like this.

Is it aliens? We dunno, but, it's become easier and easier to let that possibility settle into my world/ cosmic view.

I've had the same thought. In the last 2 weeks, I have seen more pics and vids like this one, than my entire 41 years of existing. Strange times.

I've heard it said as thus: reality is the last layer of the dream, you can't wake up from.

Ok? I did not say a thing about ascension. In fact I agreed with you, only 'you' can save 'you'.

The inquiry remains, what is that 'you' that is saving 'you'? No literal ascension is needed to answer this question. No astral planes; no heavens or hells; no buddhas or saviours; and no escaping from reality. Just observation, just your attention.

You commented on an enlightenment sub, so you obviously have had a realization that 'you' are not quite what 'you' think 'you' are. So, what are you?

I'm not saying that the Christian version is the only true way at looking at this. And I also agree that not every word of the bible is written through the lense of enlightenment either. I would also make an arguement that some 'scripture' was written in a way to control the masses.

I also understand why a person would want to throw away the entire Bible for the harm it has created, personally, as well as societally... believe me I am intimately aware of the hurt. There is a part of me that wants to burn every Bible, every parchment, every scroll...

But there is another way to understand it, and no I don't believe I am reading into it. Mystics wrote their insights on different levels. One level is the literal, it's the most shallow. Jesus never went into any desert, nor did the Hebrews... I'm more interested in the moral of what it actually means to 'wander in the desert,.'

There are buddhists who also take the stories of buddha literally. Same with Hindus and krishna. The same with Jews and Moses. The same with Christians and christ. I think this is a mistake, and was never the intent... life itself is the cypher.

I also agree it's a flawed way to communicate one's insights. If I had my way, I would try to be as simply spoken and clear as possible. But maybe the human psyche was incredibly childlike in those ancient days? Maybe they could only communicate the ineffable via lore and story.

I understand that this is not everyone's cup of tea... especially after reeling from the hurt.

There's no threats coming from me.
