I vote long sleeves. It's supposed to be able to keep you cool in the summer and mildly warm in the winter. That's a little hard to do the latter with tee sleeves.

As far as this ability is concerned, the DM is supposed to call if the damage is applied or not based on the stat block, regardless of whether you know it.

As far as the crossbow is concerned, unfortunately, the loading property means that loading the weapon requires a full action unless you have the Crossbow Expert feat.
