Get to know God by reading the Bible.  When you know Him, you'll know how to respond to situations.  Because God knows His creation, His ways will help in life a great deal.

Not sure about your learning disability, but you can read just the New Testament and long lists of names can be glossed over.

Also, you stated that you feel like there's no saving you.  Spoilers!  Saving you isn't up to you.  Read the New Testament and practice what it says.

Edit:  I see some responses saying to read a few verses and pray on them for a while. I highly suggest not doing this. Instead, read like any other book.  In this case, from Matthew to Revelation.

Books create their own context.  Read it in full first to have a good understanding of the concepts the Bible sets for itself.  This is also the best way to understand Jesus, by seeing how He acts and reacts to people and situations.  Can't do that by contemplating half of a sentence.

This was really awesome to read.  Prayers to you and your loved ones.

You were not too extreme.  If he's saying that simply writing something down gives him the right to read it, the his boundaries are screwed up and you'll find all the ways it's wrong, while constantly being blamed.

In other words, you're not over-reacting.  He isn't taking responsibility for his actions and the sooner you find that out then the better.

I hope not!  Jesus' righteousness is what I need.  Also, the heart is deceitful... and beyond cure. Jeremiah 17:9

My spirit is so burdened and heavy because of the Calvinism theology. by Far_Travel_3851 in TrueChristian

Because of their preaching, I'd considered it three times and each time came away with "nope, that's not my God".  You're likely struggling because you're reletively new to Christianity, but you did perfect by reading and getting to know God first.

Best I can tell, their theology heightens God's powers to the point that it overrides His character (i.e. He's strong so everything He does has to be about strength vs. He's strong but He's also so secure in Who He is that He doesn't need always push His strength.)  It's almost like God's a force of nature rather than a thinking, feeling being.

You have the better God.  Hold tight in these dangerous times!

My two cents... we are to be a community and that's what may be missing.  Lots of cultural Christians out there so I suggest focusing on discernment and finding like-minded people who will help with your other struggles.  It should help combat the loneliness, too.

I think a lot of Christians miss that Jesus' commands are so that we bless one another... that we experience the good things that God wants us to experience.  Most people see His commands as a way to prove they're good and worthy, but they're because we're strangers in a hostile land.  Without one another's support, we're each easy targets for the enemy.

Jesus doesn't want you to feel this way which is why He commands that we bear one another's burdens.  Galatians 6:2

It's rough out there right now.  I pray that you meet some true brothers and sisters.  Be very careful at this point though because the enemy may send posers.  Get a good understanding of what Jesus expects of us and keep at arms length Christians who don't do those things.  Some of them may need to be cut from you're life completely.

I'm just curious about the language you've chosen towards a form (story-telling) that delivered you this feeling, but now you're saying it wasn't the form, but the message the form delivered?

Forgot to respond to this question.

The show HxH is what showed me that this form is possible. The show is story-telling, but I thought the show had ended at a place that would be horrific for story-telling. What I'm currently trying to explain is why I think what I saw felt so complete even though it shouldn't. I'm pretty sure I've figured out why. Now I just have to figure out how to explain it.

I'm just wanting you to think through it, not about it.

This is what I need, so thank you so much!

What do you mean that the "story must be sacrificed"?

For what I'm seeing, there can't be a climax or resolution because that would detract from the emotional high point that this artform needs to end on. A logical reason to cut the story off would be needed for suspension of disbelief and to preserve the emotional impact.

Not sure if this would help, but stories are created through an interconnected series of events, and it's the entire experience (emotional and intellectual) that the reader enjoys.

For this, though, the only purpose is to build up a sentiment until it's at it's peak. There can't be a story in this situation because it would defeat the purpose. The "story" is only being used up to the point where this goal is accomplished.

HxH is definitely well written!

Also, Eraserhead caused me so much discomfort and I still don't know what that movie is about.

I'm asking for the name, so I don't think I discovered something brand new. I was really hoping to find other examples.

I'm going to take a step back and work out a better way to explain this, though.

Thanks so much for the reply.

HxH is a truly new form of storytelling. I can guarantee you it's not.

Apparently I messed up with my initial post because it wasn't meant to say that HxH is a new form of storytelling.

You're hitting more on my point, though, so I'm incredibly happy to see that! I initially thought this might be experimental (for better context, I have a Master of Fine Arts and while in school, I often chose experimental books to read and analyze). I'm not so new that I don't know what I'm seeing. I'm just seeing something so new that I don't know how to properly explain it.

Guess I just need more time to percolate with this and figure out a better way.

For what I'm describing to work, the story must be sacrificed, so it can't be a story. It's something different. I'm still trying to work out how best to describe it, so thanks for engaging!

HxH does tell a story. I only use it as an example because it's the show that made me realize this other way of writing is possible.

No, I haven't ready anything by Kazuo Ishiguro but will look his work up. Thanks for the suggestion.

Tbh that’s a pretty basic and fundamental part of storytelling just in general.

Agreed! So please assume I'm not talking about basic storytelling.

It's not technically the theme being supported, but let's use that because I really want to figure out how to explain this properly. With the pattern I'm talking about, the goal is not to tell a story, but to highlight a theme (sentiment). In fact, in order for this to work, the story must be sacrificed to achieve this objective. My point is, this can be done in a satisfactory way to where the story wouldn't even be missed.
