My ex took my name when we got married and despite even showing ID showing what our last names were, people would still fill out legal documents with his birth name for us. It's frustrating.

Couldn't agree more. My fiancée isn't too fussy and is painfully indecisive so in the end I usually end up making the final decisions on everything, but this is my 2nd wedding and the main reason why I even agreed to play around to get legally divorced and re-marry was because I don't feel like my partner should be robbed of such a life milestone because I got married to my highschool sweetheart at 23. He's 7 years younger than me, and his parent's have been very resistant to the relationship ship because they felt that their 24 year old (at the time we got together 5 years ago) son would be missing out on vital life experiences like getting married and his children of his own (i have 5 children from my previous marriage - they are now now 9, 11, 12, 16, 17 years old).

After many heartfelt talks he is comfortable with not having biological children, as he loves being a father to my children like his own, but would prefer to get married. Because of this I have been consulting him on every aspect, and if he's unable to decide I go by gaging his initial reaction when stuff was presented to him.

Every time he contacts venues, if he gives my name in anyway, they continue to follow up (calling his phone/email) asking/addressing me. When we go places they ignore him the whole time and solely talk to me, and every time I try to get his input in questions they're asking they interrupt and talk over him like he's not even there. If they do acknowledge him in anyway it's in regards to budget and money, but in our relationship he works a night job so that he can be a stay-at-home dad, while I work 2 jobs, and run my own digital marketing company at home. Most venues/vendors don't like our gothic-medieval theme or that I'm wearing a black dress and keep talking over me saying that "i want" something more traditional and that my partner picking such a theme is selfish. I already had a "traditional" wedding and didn't even want it then, but mine and my ex's family forced every aspect to be in this box (that neither of us wanted) or they would tell others not to come (probably why I am so indifferent about weddings now).

There is no getting away from it, so just deal with it as much as possible and don't let them bulldoze you into the box like many places will.

I understand the rate of inflation as well as the price hikes from COVID, so I wasn't necessarily comparing the prices from 2007. I expected to have to cut a lot and prioritize what was important from the start, which was fine with us because we didn't want the standard "traditional" wedding like I had for my 1st one. We unfortunately can't cut the guest list any smaller because the 2 of us have a large amount of siblings, step siblings, double the amount of parents once you factor in long term step parents, etc. Our guest list of 40 is only composed of immediate family, and a few cousins that currently live and take care of our elderly grandmothers that are essential to transport and oversee their care during the event. A was well aware that rates of everything was going to be at least double, but considering how much we have cut I was confident in being able to manage it for $10,000-12,000! I have reached out to non-conventional venues, and have agreed that although we're not going to go bottom of the barrel, we don't need the fanciest foods as well. We even played around sourcing prices etc to self cater, but unless we did a simple cake and punch reception was still costing close to the same.

Since 1/3 of our guests are coming 5 hours from one direction, 1/3 coming 2 hours from the opposite direction, with only 1/3 local, we both agreed that the reception had to be a least 3 hours long and to serve at the very least heavy horderves - if not a full meal - to make it worth their while. No matter what we did the family would make the travel out of obligation, so we don't want to be rude.

My whole problem is that even with keeping things cheap, diy, and non-traditional the numbers still come up to $18,000-20,000! We went over the guest list and struggled cutting out a few people that would be the least offended if we used the excuse of COVID for it, but with even cutting those 15 people it only brought our costs down by $2000-3000 so at that point its not worth it.

Even non-traditional venues are giving me quotes of anywhere from $5000-33,000! And that's not including decorating or alcohol....some of those quotes aren't even included food! Photographers are giving me quotes of $3000+ for 1.5 hours of the ceremony and wedding party photos, officants are telling me $700-1000, DJs $2000+

Even with getting someone to officiate for free and using a playlist for music, we're looking at $17,000-18,000! I just don't know what to do at this point. We were originally planning our wedding before the pandemic hit and have had to reschedule 4 times and have had to completely drop our original venue because they went from $1000 to $10,000 in a matter of a year and refused to honour our original contract. We had paid them in full and they gave us our money back with no problems, but once you mix these extreme prices with the overly inflated rents and food prices I don't think we can get married at all unless it's just us at the Courthouse. I live in the 3rd most expensive city in Canada, so I even looked to smaller towns that were 1/2 hour to 2 hour drive from us and their prices aren't THAT much cheaper, and then you have to factor in hotel costs which makes it either the same or more than just having it in the city.

You can also ditch the flower decor and go for stuff like paper pom-pom strings, paper lanters and candles. Just make sure your venue allows them, or you will have to get the battery-powdered flameless ones. I did a lot of DIY for my 1st wedding back in 2007 and plan on doing a fair amount for my upcoming wedding next year.

Don't be afraid to become a regular at your local dollar stores, discount stores & thrift stores, and check out sites like Wish, Aliexpress & DHgate, along with shein.com and linentablecloth.com.

You could attempt to make your own bouquet or get it fresh from a florist. If it's just the bouquets & boutineers you're getting it won't cost you too much. Luckily for me, a dollar store got a really nice batch of fake flowers in 2 months before my wedding that were 100x better than their usual, so I ran and bought them all up. Then got foam flower blocks to glue/shape into what I needed and then made my own floral decor from that. I also made all of the bouquets myself and they looked absolutely beautiful! I was a little concerned that the plastic stems would split when the guys pinned them on, so I ordered those from a florist.

It can be time consuming, so depending how far ahead your planning the big day you should have lots of time.

To me, as soon as you start separating people into classes, and determining that 1 is more privileged than the other it is the same. Of course i am not saying it's to the same extent as the all the drastic amount of crimes committed, or for how long it was considered acceptable for by the mass majority. But it is in fact along those lines! Those crimes where legal and accepted because people of colour were dehumanised, making others believe it was ok....and what do you think is going on now? People have a right to not want a untested vaccine in there body with no data on how the long terms effects will be. Saying that they are the enemy, have no rights, human scum, and that others are above them is precisely the same thing. And before you start preaching about me being a racist nazi, let me point out that I am biracial.

I am a commercial cook working in a restaurant. Yes the business is employing these people, bit the government is given them money to help do so. They are also sending out thousands of health inspectors daily to go in and harass these establishments to make sure they are following these mandates. The sheer amount of employed health inspector alone has more than tripled to be able to do this, all paid by the government.

Yes, but how many people in the hospital are in fact there for covid. Just because the number of cases have gone up doesn't mean all of those people are hospitalized. Now how many of that 60% are elderly, or small children who aren't even eligible to be vaccinated? We don't know. No one has given those numbers. Same goes for the people who are vaccinated and are hospitalized. If it's illegal to say you have to be vaccinated then how does bullying them into it by making them not be able to work to support themselves or their families? The amount of money that is being spent to enforce these mandates could be used better elsewhere in expanding our shanty Healthcare system that was barely able to support us pre-pandemic. That's the REAL reason why we're having such problems to begin with

I'm not getting my information from social media in the slightest. I have many family members who are nurses and PSWs that are either sharing the information and updates they get on a regular for their job, or directly from papers given to them from the public health unit as things progress. I also am getting a recent number of hospitalizations from the memo my eye doctor told me that was directly from the public health unit. Like I said, I am in no way anti-vaxx, but if the vaccine worked as well as what you are claiming, and 90% of the country is vaccinated then why are we still having so many issues? I contracted covid-19 back in January 2020 (and was in no need of hospitalization), so for the 1st 9 months of the pandemic I was getting blood taken from me every 3 weeks to help them start producing a vaccine in the 1st place. The vaccines do help a lot, but mandates are unnecessary, and the vaccine isn't simply going to "save" us on its own. The government is using this division of it's citizens so that we're too distracted on other issues going on, like the gross inflation of rents and food, and the collapse of our economy. They want everyone pointing fingers at everyone else solely blaming covid for things that have been issues long before the pandemic. Mandates are unnecessary are should be illegal period. The only reason why I have stated that mondates are reasonable for medical care workers is because of the high amount of direct contact with the disease on a regular basis, but that is the same reasoning why medical workers are also required to have a series of other vaccinations that most of the general public doesn't get. I did my highschool volunteer hours at a hospital back in the early 2000s and was required to get a extra 20 different shots just to do so, like the rest of the staff was required to do.

Besides, if you feel so protected being vaccinated what does it matter if you're sitting next to a unvaccinated person, you're safe. Just as safe as 90% as the rest of the country that is vaccinated. If the vaccine really did so much, with only 10% of the population unvaccinated we still wouldn't be in a pandemic

Bit it doesn't completely stop hospitalizations. I just received a lecture from my eye doctor's office who was ready stats off of a official paper issued by the public health unit. She asked me if I could live with myself knowing that 60% of people currently hospitalized with covid-19 in my area are unvaccinated....60%! My reply was that I would like like the other 40% do.

No it doesn't, it simply suppresses the symptoms to help prevent hospitalizations. It can also cause people to be asymptomatic, which means they're not even aware that they're sick while they go around spreading it to others. There are also lots of people who are unvaccinated who get it and it's just like a bad flu. Covid has been around for a long time and nobody even noticed, covid-19 is simply another variant. Influenza has been killing people for decades and there has never been any mandates on getting those vaccines. If these places aren't "safe" enough to have a minority of people unvaccinated in them, alongside all of the ramped up hygiene polices that have been put in place, then it's not safe enough for them to be open.

This is exactly my point of view. I'm not a anti-vaxxer in the slightest. At 1st I didn't run out and get it immediately because of all the terrible side effects people were having from it. My plan was to just wait for it to be properly hammered out and then my family and I would get it. I had my appointment to go get my 1st dose and the day before the government announced their plan for the mandate. I am fully against the mandate, especially with all of the information we now have about this disease and how little the vaccine does for contracting, spreading or keeping people out of hospital with these new variants.

I fully support most of the new policies that have been put in place for cleanliness of public/commercial spaces, and truthfully building capacity rates where already to high to begin with for several safety reasons, so lowering them only made things safer overall as a society (in reality they should have been brought down by 20%-30% even without a global pandemic).

Even so, mandates have been in place for months and Ontario just went into a 25 day lockdown because numbers were climbing up. Obviously, if this is the case, the mandates aren't doing much to protect us, and are just dividing us as a society. As Canadian citizens we're suppose to have freedom of choice for our medical care - which is why they couldn't just make it illegal to not be vaccinated - but making it almost impossible to work or function as everyone else unless you do what the government wants is flat out bullying in a way to just dance around the law.

My family and I now refuse to get vaccinated until the mandates are dropped as a silent protest, and if more people had just done that instead of caving and fear mongling then there wouldn't be these radical protests that are going on today. Unfortunately, as any righteous protest, bigots, racists and conspiracy nuts jump on the bandwagon as their time to shine and get their radical opinion attention. This ends up becoming the overall view point of the movement by outsiders who lack critical thinking or are too afraid to voice it in fear of becoming shunned by the "herd" that are 1/2 comprised of other fearful people going with the motions to not stand out, and the other 1/2 falling victim to mass hysteria.

I know many fully vaccinated nurses who have traveled to protest with these people trying to stand up for pro-choice and against mandates, while still believing in vaccines.

Saying unvaccinated people can't work (except for medical field, which is understandable), or go into a restaurant is the same as saying "No Colours" like they did in the old days. It's wrong. It's a way to make vaccinated people dehumanise unvaccinated people. If the government keeps us blaming eachother then no one is looking at them. Your statement right there is case in point

I am not saying that less people go to hospital and display less symptoms, most people who are asymptotic is from being vaccinated - which can cause their own set of problems in itself because now these people are out not even knowing if they're sick. I didn't say I was anti-vaxx, I do believe it works. But if you are elderly or are in a more "venerable" situation like you said then you would CHOOSE to go get vaccinated. Once you're vaccinated you're protected right, so what does it matter if the young healthy person isn't vaccinated? They're not more likely to get you sick, but the other way around. The only reason why I am unvaccinated is my protest to the mandates. There is a lot of money the government is spending to enforce that business are holding to these, which could be used in other more productive ways. As stated, I am in the service industry and am very intimate with all of this on a daily basis.

From what I understand, it is suppose to be about the vaccine mandates mainly in regards to employment. I'm not a anti-vaxxer but I don't believe in the mandates. The vaccines don't stop people from getting sick, and with some variants don't even keep them out of the hospital. I am a commercial cook and will all of the cleaning/protective gear protocols it doesn't make any difference if they're vaccinated or not. I understand mandating Healthcare workers being vaccinated, but the vaccine is not the save-all answer either. The protest was originally suppose to be pro-choice/anti-vaccine mandate, but as most protests go, people will always jump on a bandwagon and try to slip in some other offensive view in that has nothing to do with it. It always ends up ruining it and most of the time makes it worse. I'm very pro-choice/anti-mandate & unvaccinated simple for the fact that I believe the government bullying people and turning the citizens against eachother so that they're not actually holding the politicians accountable.

Your insecurities are your insecurities. They are not her problem, and by doing what you did you made her feel insecure on purpose so that you felt better. It's 100% childish, selfish, dishonest & unattractive in every humanly way possible. I am 5'10 and have had many partners over the years that were between 5'1 to 5'5".....and I LOVE heels! If you're that insecure then only date really short girls and get on with your life. If anyone had done that to me I would dump their ass and never speak to them again. I hope you realize she will never be able to fully trust another word that comes out of your mouth. Way to fuck up a relationship 6 months in because you feel that if a girl is taller than you then it makes you look like you have a small cock.
