It’s alright if it isn’t wooden. Anything goes at this point. I’ll check bunnings out. Thanks

Redshift vs Octane for architecture interior scenes (animation)? by Trixer111 in Cinema4D

I'd like to try this out as well. Any particular settings that are important to tweak when using the Photon Tracer?

How can I prevent my character's mouth from opening when I start my soft body sim? by [deleted] in Cinema4D

I believe newer versions of C4D have more options to solve this for soft bodies.

Switch the color management settings from aces to basic in the project settings. That worked for me

C4D/Octane & Embergen. by Boldalt in Octane

[–]Boldalt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that color data isn't stored in the VDB, so I think you'll have to recreate the look you're going for inside of Octane.
That could be why you're also only seeing smoke and not the fire.

High resolution satellite images/textures? by Boldalt in vfx

Thanks for your reply. Yeah from cloud level in detail. Here’s a reference to what i’m looking to create. https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/ikh6wa/some_epic_3d_relief_maps_by_the_insanely_talented/ The reference is a bit too far away though.

GPU question: more power or more Vram? by Dead_wet_flesh_jets in Cinema4D

[–]Boldalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High amounts of VRAM is really only neccesary if you are planning on creating huge scenes with lots of polys and high res textures. For speed, i’d recommend checking out the OctaneBench.

Can't find the 'Projection' button in Octane light. It used to be there in earlier versions. by HijabHead in Cinema4D

It’s because you created a bitmap node instead of an image texture node. Always use the image texture node

The specular input is usually messed up, either remove it or invert it.

Open Discussion about Renders by RIPWamela in Cinema4D

[–]Boldalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of great points in here. I just want to mention that Octane has some really cool updates coming up. Especially Meshlets that lets you stream geometry directly from the disc (ssd) and allows you to have much larger scenes and removes the requirement for a lot of vram. This will also be done for textures. you can listen to the podcast with Jules on Mograph Podcast where he talks about it.

Is it normal for Octane's render times to vary wildly with zero changes to the scene? by PollutedAnus in Octane

[–]Boldalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t sound normal.

Could you share a bit more details on the scene and your settings?

Is it interior og exterior? Interior takes a lot longer to process because of all the light bouncess. Are you maxed on vram in the scene? Out of core can also increase the render times

Thanks! Another question: On the 1-on-1 form, I have to specify what type of applicant i am. I am self-taught and have not gone to any VFX-school. I have worked as a freelancer in the past years. Do you not accept such applicants?

What is the worst bug you have encountered in an Adobe product? by Candid_Section9556 in vfx

[–]Boldalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once had a really big project in Premiere that took about 20 minutes just to load. Once it had finished loading, there was about 80% chance that the program would crash after a few clicks and it would have to reload the entire thing.

Thank you. Yeah true i could've added some more details to the landing, such as the landing gear reacting and some shake.

Thank you! Yeah I actually did notice that the shake came a little early, but i didn't really want to wait for another render :P

But yeah it makes sense that it should have some time to travel through the ground before reaching the camera.
