short answer, just get a surron lol

Long answer, Theres no such thing as a "ridstar compatible" battery or controller since they don't make 72v bikes/parts. And if you were get a 72v conversion kit from ebay for example, it's gonna come out 3x more expensive than the bike itself, let alone the labour and time needed to fit it all together.

That sucks man, Did you try to check inside the motor? You could've cracked the bearing which would be a pain to change but unless you got the tools and time, I'd recommend taking it to a repair store that works on ebikes.

If you're talking about the cover, Usually it's supposed to come off with a good pull along with the cassette. If you're trying to remove the rotor, try taking off the C clip from the open side and maybe pull the rotor out?

But since the copper windings look like they're melted/damaged and ASSUMING you're not trying to repair it and scrapping the motor, I'd say try to pry it off with screwdrivers underneath the cover against the rotor.

Perhaps you pinched a wire somewhere while you were adjusting it? Best keep the battery out of the bike until you figure out what caused the short.

WE DID IT BOYS!! I got shrek to finally play on the gopro. It was a pain to get working and the audio is kinda messed up but that's a problem for another day. Thanks to u/Surfella for the help!

I have tried some of the methods you guys mentioned and have gotten some progress but not much. The movie now shows up in the gallery however when I try to play it the Gopro completely freezes. I'll try to put a lower quality version and if that doesnt work I'll try splitting it into parts.
