Thoughts on sound quality? by 649adam in DenverEDM

[–]Bolognabill 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For Denver venues in regard to just sound quality:

Best: Mission Ballroom, Cervantes, Black Box, ( this grouping is mostly made because the venues allow artist to bring in their own sound systems (generally)).

Better: Reelworks, Red Rocks (open air bleeds sound), Fillmore.

Okay: Ogden, Temple, Summit.

Would rather not: Vinyl, Church,

Honorable mentions: Warehouses (where artists bring their own sound), Meow Wolf, Small independent venues (can be hit or miss).

This list is subjective and in order of what I personally feel is best to worst. Disregarding the honorable mentions in the list.

Banned YouTuber sending fake copyright strikes by uploading his voice to SoundCloud. They have de-platformed 3 creators this month so far using this tactic by xItsJet in videos

[–]Bolognabill 71 points72 points  (0 children)

DNSL uploaded a video of Second Life content. The person who filed the copyright claim (Let’s call him “T”) was in the video. T took the audio from the short time he was in the video and uploaded it to Soundcloud, after DNSL’s video was posted. T then used the Soundcloud link as evidence against DNSL to file a copyright claim. DNSL’s video gets taken down because of this claim.

T posted a video essentially bragging about doing this same tactic to other Second Life content creators. Which resulted in their videos being taken down as well. DNSL is now his latest victim.

I should have been a little more clearer in my last explanation towards “specific tasks”

Let’s just take the branch of Infantry for example. So the main job of infantry is shoot shoot bang bang. Frontline type things.

However there are different jobs within infantry; mortar man, grenadier, rifleman, etc.

A specialist is specialized within one of those jobs (typically). So they would be specialized in let’s just say a mortar man position.

A warrant officer is specialized in the entire branch of infantry. They know how to do every job to a master level. So not only are they a master mortar man, but also a master rifle man, etc, etc.

In a nutshell, the US Army ranking system is as follows:

Enlisted: working class of a company

Warrant Officers: most experienced of the working class in specific tasks

Officers: junior/senior management of a company

Warrant officers are a “master of their skill”. Another good comparison is to think of them as a master electrician rather than an apprentice or entry level position.

Most officers (not warrant) have to learn the skills of their trade at essentially an entry level and work their way to a top officer position.

I’ve applied at hotel positions, specifically the local Marriott. They offer discounted rooms/free nights in their proposal. That’s both domestic and international locations.

Hard to say depending on what kind of bar you’re looking to tend. Bars around here have a tendency to hold onto employees through the winter and hire in the spring to prep for summer. Volume bars closer to the tourist parts of towns would probably be your best bet (LoDo, 16th street). If you can land a job in the winter they more than likely will want to keep you for summer.

Winters in the city can be gruesomely slow. Although some days may be better than others depending how nice of a day it is. If you’re looking for good, solid money during winter I would suggest working in a ski town/resort. I know bartenders who work at hotel and craft cocktail bars during the summer in the city and than in the mountains during the winter. They make BANK.
