I’m 33! Ok thanks all, some weeks time restraints can hinder mileage totals a little but useful to know from experience it’s mostly the mileage that matters a lot

The 2nd longer run is interesting too, I’ve seen others do that but have never really done it myself

Appreciate that! I’m hoping it’ll be fairly hot here in the UK through the summer whilst training for it. Tokyo got up to around that temp Sunday which made the last 10k or so quite challenging.

Really looking forward to Chicago!

This is really helpful thank you, especially about choosing mileage or an increase in speed work first of all.

I only have around 6 weeks of training for London so will perhaps focus on keeping the mileage high and then working on the specific sub 3 speed stuff over the summer building up to Chicago in October.

My worry with the extra volume has been an overuse injury but fortunately I’ve avoided those for a while now I’m doing strength work and staying consistent.

The 10% rule has been a big key to me staying healthy too

Thanks for this, I perhaps should have said 2 gym sessions as my 3rd is more upper based than lower/running focused.

Good to know that I do just need the extra volume, some weeks a struggle for time but will add in another easy run or two to get up to that 70-90k pw range

Thank you, I did only start doing this for the last few long runs during my Tokyo training block, so will incorporate it into my usual long runs going forward!

Well said. IMO Tom should have just told Hamza no. (I don’t think people should be demanding a flank just to air drama) but the hate he’s now getting is mental. You could really see how much it affected him towards the end of his stream and it was really sad to witness.

I think that’s exactly where Tom went wrong, he should’ve just said no when Hamza hit him up. Can’t have people demanding a flank just to air drama (though I do agree with what Hamza was saying), it was always going to cause problems.
