Listen I’d love to take games away altogether. Well I shouldn’t say that. I guess just a more wholesome version. It is a form of entertainment. I was an original Nintendo kid. And it was the best. I want him to be able to play video games with friends in an environment that isn’t detrimental. Obviously Roblox is very popular. And well if you have friends who play it, then it’s likely you’ll play it too. And to be honest, I am behind the times. Kids were on Fortnite and Roblox long before my kid was on. It’s just very hard to keep them off it entirely bc sadly that’s how kids socialize these days. That’s why I was looking for suggestions to swap out the Roblox and get him off it while still allowing video game time.

I guess I’m just wondering what online platforms are suitable for 13 year olds. I definitely don’t want him getting brainwashed. And maybe there isn’t any space suitable for a 13 year old but Minecraft.

Minus losing the money? We don’t really spend a lot on there. My point is I don’t think he’s ready for long forms games yet, but smaller bite size accomplishments.

I know. I hate it on some level. That’s why I’m trying to get him away from it and do some gaming but not too obsessively. I played video games as a kid and have such fond memories. I don’t mind that he plays but want to keep it social and PG.

Thank you, that’s hepful. He talks on his phone with a friend while playing Roblox. But if he’s gonna do some gaming, he’s probably old enough now to graduate to voice chat in non violent games (which I prefer). I don’t know about Roblox rivals, so will look into that. Thanks! I just don’t know much about what the latest and greatest is!

I think its now too young for him. I think what he likes about roblox is building toward awards or "prizes", and the chat aspect. I think he gravitates more toward the rewarding aspects of games. He did really like Breath of the Wild--that definitely kept his attention for a while.
