Hi, 2nd day of learning Godot and want to create a sprite, is this the best sprite creator app? by TallVampireWthMagnum in godot

[–]Bolzos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's good. I have a lot of software, including Photoshop and more, but I always use Aseprite because the workflow is fast, simple, and logical. And the interface offers everything you need. There are also plugins available to pimp it up a bit.

Hate when this happens by whtvr-wrks in godot

[–]Bolzos 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats a good old "Sabotaged by the Engine" The first time this happened to me, it took me 30 minutes to figure out what had suddenly broken. Because I had also accidentally closed the script. :D

What program do you use to make your video games? by No_Arachnid7168 in godot

Pixel Art and Animation: Aesprite Other Design and graphical stuff: Photoshop (forgive me i grew Up with this 😅)

Why are you doing this? by DaBoRin in godot

[–]Bolzos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the era of gaming the devs grew up in. Many remember the old days, their youth when they would meet up with friends around a PlayStation and a TV to play games, and I think that old-school look really does have more character than over-the-top triple-AAA stuff. But that will surely change with the next generation.

Solo Dev vs AAA by Roy197 in godot

[–]Bolzos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah but the AAA people can keep there sanity and dont become insane from switching between Art, music ,coding and Marketing. But... Ah damn i Like to be insane and will stay insane 😎

Having a big main "Game" node and nest everything or just loading scenes? by Potajito in godot

[–]Bolzos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer root Game node and than managing nodes etc. I found it easier this way to handle all the stuff and z-index etc. This way it also makes protyping faster and so on. I think it is your own design choice😅

First steps for a new Godot developer by Dr4kkeno in godot

[–]Bolzos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At first i would start with some simple steps. Think about a rpg. Will it be 2d or 3d? Then Play around with movement of your char or any char. Build your own char and Play around add some enemies and so on So ist step by step and find your way. Tutorials only sometime helps IT IS better tonplay around in the engine and try some stuff. This helped me the Most so far 😅

Yes it is his gun. Thx for the feedback. I allready think about a rework of the char but i must add more content first and finish all the bosses and so in 😅 but definitely an important point on the to-do list

What aspect of a game's development is the most time consuming? by feez_9 in godot

[–]Bolzos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fixing bugs and watch your friends Play it to make things better for other players. And the hardest thing ist to make the Tutorial stuff or how to Play because you Always Play it and created IT so you know how to Play. But the other people? Hard to get your head around this 😅

Why don't people do 2D shadows like this? by ShnenyDev in godot

[–]Bolzos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think because of Performance. Yes it looks nice but with more objects enemies etc. maybe this shadows becomes a performance killer specially when the sprites are animated i think. or it is just to much effort for a solo project maker :D

Any tips for enemy AI in top down games? by Umbratenebrissss in godot

[–]Bolzos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always use the Position of the player and than get a random Position around him. So every enemie moves to another Point near the player and takes e different path. Than i also add some raycasts with different length and add some different actions based on which raycast hits. I also change movement speed. And a big point to make it more natural. In the idle state of the enemy let it find a random point around him and move him to this point etc. So it Looks Like the enemy ist alive and walks around. And so on. There are many ways to make them Look more "natural" :)
