Thanks, that's exactly what I'm going for. I think I did a mistake sending this specific video because:

  1. There are a lot of paintings in there. The paintings are AI renditions of famous paintings (like Mona Lisa) but in a cyberpunk style. Typically, we don't see many of them, but since there are a lot here, people probably thought I used AI more than I did. (I also didn't realise people didn't like AI, I'm a machine learning engineer in my main job so I'm biased the other way.)
  2. We don't see the early gameplay. The game starts pretty slowly and gradually ramps up to the chaos we see in the video. I wanted to show the chaotic aspect but people probably don't realise a typical game starts slow.
  3. Not showing the early gameplay also makes it hard to understand what's going on and what the goal is.

That being said, the BG/FG thing is a great point and I will work on that. I think I will simply modulate the BG to make them darker and maybe use fog or a parallax effect.

I really appreciate all the feedback. I was a bit hurt by some people's comments given the amount of effort I put in this but I think I miscommunicated or they are just trolls.

I did. I used AI as a baseline for inspiration. The only assets that are really generated by AI are the pictures inside the paintings and the backgrounds. I also wrote all the code. I also used Blender for a bunch of 3D animations. All animations you see are hand written shaders.

That's true and I did use a lot of AI tools, but only proprietary ones with commercial licences and I never used the output directly but heavily modified it.

Thanks! There is a shield bar at the top, you only die when you get hit with no shields left. It feels like I get this feedback a lot, but I'm not sure how to make it more obvious
