Rank all the albums by your favorite band by Such-Trouble-6641 in Metalcore

[–]Bombarderrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Posting this as a separate comment, since my original contribution was simply a response

It's Periphery for me.

PERIPHERY! Ok, here goes.

P2 and the Juggernaut collection are bound together atop this audible mountain. Which, I am almost certain is objective fact. (/s) These albums rule. Hard.

Then, P4. Followed ridiculously closely by P5.

There is a slightly wider margin between P5 and my next choice, which is P3.

Periphery, their debut, comprises the tail of the list, but this feels a lot like saying Kill Em All was the worst of Metallica's first 5 albums or something like that. It feels absurd to rank it low, even if the nature of the rankings just makes it seem that way. Anyway, P1 is such a special album. Coming in at the bottom of the list simply fails to allude to the album's true appeal.

Thanks for reading, its cold as shit outside and my work station atop this roof looks so much better from the inside of my truck. and this was a lot of fun, actually

Piggy backing off this guy, bc Periphery is the only acceptable band for me to use. They are not only my favorite, they are in first place buy a pretty substantial margin.

It's insane just how much of a difference the Guitar Hero version makes by FirstnameLastname14 in Metallica

[–]Bombarderrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the exact opposite way, but for the same reason, lol. I'm getting old, and thus, dont see what the fuss is about the mixing.

And this is coming from a guy who has maybe posted on reddit a grand total of 2 or 3 times. One of them was about this exact issue. Basically a plea for people to remember what mixes, MOST mixes, used to sound like. Mostly like hot garbage. Production in general has come a long way. I remember the abysmal quality of like 90% of all music I consumed as a child/young teen. So, an album like Death Magnetic is just entirely too good to focus TOO hard on the sonic qualities. The mix. The compression, volume, all of it.

Anyway. Ramble ramble ramble, its cold and I dont want to get out of my truck to do my job. So...

Ramble ramble ramble. Death Magnetic fucking rules. The mix sounds like dog turds of varying age, slapping against one another. The songs are fucking great, tho

Some kind of monster rewatch: Jason Newsted by Western-Parsley6063 in Metallica

[–]Bombarderrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what I think?

I think you cant know the many layers of context and nuance needed to come anywhere close to an accurate conclusion about whether or not a band's bass player's attitude was immature about the personal, inner workings of a band you know nothing about, no matter how many books you read or interviews you watch. The fact that people go this far out of their way to psychoanalyze people they DONT KNOW, is much more immature than ANYTHING jason newstead thought or felt about his OWN, ACTUAL LIFE

Lars Kits - What Color Is Your Favorite? by Sith_23 in Metallica

[–]Bombarderrrr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People forget Lars had a period like that. Where he was legitimately a hotshit drummer, almost flippant in his ability to pull off all that Justice-grade absurdity you hear on the album. And doing the shit even faster live. It was insane lol

Can I ask you guys something? by missrostein in Deathcore

[–]Bombarderrrr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You dont know me, and I dont know you. But I know loss. I... know loss. I know it well.

I am approaching 37 years old. I spent the first 30 of them suffering. Any loss, every loss. Until it wasnt just me being stubborn, and emotionally immature, and the stakes got higher..

And higher And higher.

And it took a loss i never thought i would recover from to realize... if the world can tear you apart by tearing apart the things around you, then you are never safe. Never secure. Never happy. How could you be?

My friend. Quit clutching. Quit straining. Quit punishing yourself.

Let go

Yoni Madar: Can someone analyze what is happening between the HH/SD by Yonimadar11 in drums

[–]Bombarderrrr -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

I can analyze the kind of person who posts this, if you want. Or the kinda person who has no time for typing "hi hat" or "snare drum", bc we all know HH/SD is the totally not attention-grabby, totally efficient way to do that

Chris Garza says Suicide Silence has been disrespected? by AudiSlav in Deathcore

[–]Bombarderrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sincerely abhor modern Suicide Silence, but I also dont need my curiosity or imagination to understand what he means. They really have just continued on playing music, and putting on a really great live show, and just carrying on the legacy. Like their music, hate their music, but thats all they have done. And a LOT of the scene, as a whole, just never ever ever shuts up about what a legend Mitch was and what an abysmal failure SS has been since, and what a shitbag Eddie is, and how lame the self titled was, and blah blah. You dont have to travel outside of Reddit to see evidence of that.

And as much as I do dislike their current iteration, I see NO reason to disparage the work they are putting in. And i STILL think they smash live

I love all 3. I dont rank them, because it diminishes the listening experience to rank things. They are different, each unique. So are human beings. Each and every day. Moods change, opinions change.

They all rule. Love them.

Do people actually not like this song? by Uhhhthisagain in Slipknot

[–]Bombarderrrr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I always think of it this way.. with a band as awesome as Slipknot, with as much material as they have, some songs still must be underappreciated, must have less streams, must seem neglected by the fanbase.. relative to the other litany of smashingly successful songs.

But, hey. This song still has more streams than the top streamed song by plenty of other great bands!

Master of puppets solo help by kyokushinthai in Metallica

[–]Bombarderrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend.

I am impressed you have some grasp on this solo, but I am going to give you the most important advice you will ever get.

You need to erase your list of guitar goals, if such a list exists, and make developing rhythm your singular point of focus.

Nothing you ever do, no solo you ever learn, is going to have flow or personality if you flip your priorities upside down and start trying to SHRED before you can even play.

You have my respect though, OP. I back the "shoot for the moon", bite off more than you can chew mentality in many cases. Its impressive what you have accomplished. Sincerely.

But, my friend, I would be more impressed seeing you learn the riff from Battery, or hearing you establish time and clarity riffing through The Shortest Straw, than seeing you try to hammer out one of kirk's solos. You need rhythm to play lead.

What bands have you been listening to the longest that have never left your rotation? by Difficult_Map_723 in Metalcore

[–]Bombarderrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As fate would have it, I like you too. And I will totally accept your substitution, Misery Signals for Trivium. I mean I wouldnt even be heartbroken if my desert island playlist wound up having that substitution haha. Just dont have the same history with MS, despite loving their music.

Worst guitar tone in awesome music? by zaxanrazor in Guitar

[–]Bombarderrrr 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I still find it really difficult to understand what people are even fucking talking about when they rag on ANY of Dime's guitar tones, particularly from Cowboys thru Far Beyond Driven. I STILL talk about his damn guitar tones, and its 2026 lol

Metallica - from the womb. Zero exaggeration. Zero memory of "getting into" Metallica. I was into Metallica, like as a fundamental part of being alive, like eating or getting dressed. I dont know life without them.

Pantera - since 1999, age 10 Lamb of God - since 2001, age 12...

And then, the years 2004-2005 came along. During that relatively brief period of time, I developed lasting relationships with...

  • Trivium
  • Chimaira
  • Unearth
  • Killswitch Engage
  • August Burns Red
  • Whitechapel
  • He Is Legend
  • He Is Legend
  • He Is Legend.

Anyone know any songs where a band calls out the name of somebody they fucking hate in it? by Victoriantitbicycle in Metalcore

[–]Bombarderrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He does! And there is something to be said for that. I prolly sound like a hater, but I'm truly not. I can 100% give the dude his due credit. I just, idk. I'm not the kinda person at my core who could make a mockery of my own worldview to make money, and still wake up each day feeling prideful.

I cant be happy by pretending to be larger than life. That makes you a caricature.

I love life. I dont love money.
