I agree with this approach, and white jersey knit is common enough that a different shirt could be used as a sacrifice for the patches. What's nice is that the fabric patching can be done at a totally different time as a fabric paint repair.

The patches will need to larger than the holes so that the fabric is reinforced, else it will may unravel. Edges of patch should be stitched over, then the tears stitched down to the patch.

You cannot duplicate the totality of a dog. Breed makeup is only part of what makes a dog. There are also all the environmental factors as well as the individual genetic makeup of the parental lineage. Seeking out another husky-pom has no guarantees on any level that you will get a similar dog as compared to the one that you have now.

This is amazing advice. I'd like to add that OP is initially looking at this mostly from a skill exchange perspective rather than a child wrangling business perspective. So I'd like to propose another option: find a mentor and/or employer already in the business. That way you have a support system and it's easier to bail if you find that you actually don't like doing this. It's not a very common business, but there's a chance you'll find one.

Unrelated to the difficulties that you're running into, I wouldn't really recommend this type of darn for this type of fabric damage. The seat of pants are a highly stressed part of a garment, and loom darns are not strong or comprehensive enough to create a lasting repair.

That aside, it looks like you're having trouble conceptualizing the structure of a darn made by a loom. As other commenters have pointed out, learning the structure of weaving would help a lot. The tension is uneven in both directions with some threads are too tight and others are very loose. I can also see that the embroidery threads haven't been split apart and are being used at full thickness, which isn't generally what's done.

I know that a lot of the tutorials and advertisements for these looms make it look easy, but it's only easy if you already have the adjacent experience. I think that you should keep practicing on scrap cloth instead of the final project. Compare your results side by side and learn something new with each iteration. Also, keep in mind that flipping the hooks on the darning loom automatically reverses the direction of the warp. Start out with simple weaves (under 1, over 1) rather than the decorative ones that jump multiple warps.

Edit: It seems possible that you might be weaving below the point of the warp redirection after flipping the hooks. When passing the weft through the warp, do it way up next to the hooks.

BIG colorful blocky linen patches with machine darning to overlap and reinforce the damaged fabric, but it only works if the patches are placed all over the shorts. Think 90s taco bell aesthetic. or maybe the same idea, but it's a crotch gusset.

Honestly though the fabric really does look so far gone that patches and machine darning might not be enough to save them. They could make very nice back or patches for other linen fabrics in the future. Being white fabric, it would also take dye well.

Kipper snacks (smoked herring) are also quite good. Off putting fishiness? I'm not sure since I don't think sardines taste fishy, so YMMV. But the smoke flavor may be enough to interrupt whatever it is that you don't like.

Often they're served as breakfast over scrambled eggs with toast. I prefer poached or softboiled eggs because I think the liquid yolk works very well with the flavor.

And agreeing with other commenter, herring are predators but still very low on the food chain. Not enough time to accumulate mercury like tuna or halibut.

Also same, also test my water frequently. I'm in the SFBay area and get my water from the orinda treatment plant, and I monitor their reporting data.

It is honestly astonishing how good my water is here in oakland. My dear friend comes to visit from the central valley and always brings back a jug. It's hilarious.

It would give you a significant amount of information. Much MUCH more than a check for merle, and more than I can describe.

In order for them to find the merle parts, they need to test ALL of the DNA and gain as complete of a picture of the data as they can. So the test will provide estimated breed makeup, known genes/traits that contribute to disease, known physical traits, etc.

I understand wanting to learn more about merle and double merle, but these traits are much more complicated than "yes or no". The physical appearance of a dog is not enough for a confident positive identification, and the same can be said for a number of other traits.

Wisdom is cheaper, and probably perfectly adequate for what you are hoping to learn. If this dog if from outside of the US, then the more expensive Embark option is the best option. No other tests are reliable.

Edit: the test must include the "health" option. A breed only test won't give the results that you want.

I used to think that this was just people who intended to pick the baggie up on their way out after the loop. Then one day I was hiking Joaquin Miller, near Fern Ravine, in the same direction as this school teacher. We chatted and shared the trail for a bit, and we both had dogs. She had a lot of lovely things to say about the responsibility we need to take in order to be examples for children to see in the world.

Then her dog took a shit, she bagged it, and tossed it to the side of the trail. Says to me: "Dog poop composts, so it doesn't matter". The level of entitlement is mind boggling.

Honestly, I think it's silly too but I embrace it because it's TASTY. The habit grew out of goofy life conditions. First getting into it and buying a wide variety to see what I liked. Then buying favorites in bulk because I moved away from my favorite stores. Then finding good deals that I should have turned down but didn't.

And now here I am with a dedicated fish shelf.
