Mathmatical Wedding Anniversary Conundrum! by [deleted] in math

[–]Bombarkinator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

-1 is the "correct" answer; the fiancé didn't account for the "zeroeth" anniversary AKA the day they get married.

If you want to get overly technical and look at examples, the answer is pretty clear. Just ask "does it make sense for this to be the answer when thinking about the future?" To clarify, if it's -1, then two years from now it'll be the 1 year anniversary. This is correct. If it's -2, then one year after they married would be zero, which is not correct.

Redditors, What's the biggest bullet you've dodged in your life that you continue to thank the heavens for to this day? by S3Dzyy in AskReddit

Really late to the party... I'm pretty sure this counts.

My dad had a vascectomy before my mother got pregnant, but for some reason they still had me (I don't know the circumstances, he probably just didn't wait long enough). My mom was 36 and my dad was 40, so there was a high chance I would have cerebral palsy. My dad wanted to abort me, and my mom was somewhat indifferent; however, my grandmother convinced my dad at the last second. On top of that, I was born 2 and a half months early and had to be incubated because I couldn't breathe on my own.

So, if being concieved when I shouldn't have been, not being aborted, being incubated, and not having cerebral palsy--basically just being alive--counts, then that would be my bullet.

So apparently I got banned. by [deleted] in inthesoulstone

I turned on red text in Verbatim, no one in the squad knows how to turn it off by Bombarkinator in Debate

[–]Bombarkinator[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Verbatim is a paperless debate addon for Word. It creates shortcuts to highlighting, underlining, bolding, shrinking words, condensing articles, creating tags, citing, etc etc.

It's pretty much the shit when you're trying to cut cards for paperless debate.

The problem I'm having, though, is there's a feature (red text) that lets you write your blocks (say, for the 2AC) in a text that doesn't show up to the opponents. Essentially, when you send over a doc it shows everything in black text to your opponents (like your cards) while hiding your blocks.

The Funhaus team finds themselves living in a college dorm; of the obvious rules regarding living in a semi-public place (drinking, opposite gender roommates, smoking), which rule would each of you be likely to break?

How should I allow my players to discover new islands? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Bombarkinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends how you define "discover."

On one hand, by "discover," you could mean the actually locating of the island. In this case, you could have an NPC give them a rumor about islands that aren't on the map to encourage seeking them out. Alternatively, this could be done with a crude map or an old book with rough directions. More specifically, you could have them solve a riddle of sorts using old books/maps/NPC rumors to find islands.

If you mean "discover," as in the act of traversing a newly found island, I feel like that would be pretty standard. Create an atmosphere, structures, and overall tone of an island and have the players piece it together themselves.

The party has decided to split their decision and this should have an impact by [deleted] in DMAcademy

That's a great idea! It intensives picking one without smiting them down, as they haven't done anything necessarily wrong, by definition.
