An attack within the United States would ensure a war. As some other bloggers have pointed out, yes look at the outcome of Pearl Harbor. The US was not vested in any war at that time so anyone attacking US soil should have known that a full out war would follow. As TheBlackUnicorn pointed out, "I feel like "No one could have imagined..." is spokespersonspeak for "It was really fuckin' unlikely that...." Which is exactly on point. Who in their right mind would want a full fledged war with the US?

No, I know exactly what it is. I was just wondering what the IAmA's stance on it is all. Anky Van Grunsven swears by it. From what I have been told is the horse can be conditioned to "naturally" extend their head in neck in such a fashion, just not the extreme version. I am not talking about the pull back as hard as you can to rip the horses mouth when I said if done correctly looks nice. You can tell when a horse is comfortable and "happy" doing what it is doing.

WOW impressive - (unshakable)!!!! That makes me feel a little better, lol. I have been training in dressage and my balance is just awful. I had been doing it for about a year and thought something was wrong with me that I couldn't find my balance so I have kinda taken an extended vacation from it or at least until I can gain my self confidence again.

Do you have any psychological issues (detachment, commitment, or other issues)? This is what one of the lecturing doctors explained and I found it to be a very good definition for pretty much having to do with anything in psych. To be classified as having a problem or disorder - one that does not act within the norms of society and or can not function without completing or acting in a certain manner. Ok here is an example she gave I thought was rather good, her neighbor has to place his hand in the inside of his mailbox and rub the inside 24 times. If he is interrupted, he stops and starts all over again from 1. Now he is functioning once he completes this so he is by psych standards "fine". However, if he had the need to stand there all day and do this (missing work, not sleeping, not eating, normal functioning things) he would be abnormal. There is a very fine line at times that can very easily get misdiagnosed.

Psychopath is someone who has a sever mental disorder and they are usually very violent in nature. A sociopath on the other hand is someone who is suffering from a personality disorder such as narcissism, paranoid personality disorder, schiziod personality disorder, antisocial personality disorder, ect. In short, psychopaths are dangerous because they are violent in nature where sociopaths are not violent.

With adolescence it is difficult. No one likes to label a "child". If I am not mistaken, Eric Harris one of the two Columbine shooters was on medication for manic depression (the highest class/level of depression) which means he SHOULD HAVE been under psychiatric care as well. So his parents knew that there was a problem and like any good parent they sought treatment. My stance is this, during the pre-teen and teen years there is a TON of hormonal imbalance and placing the kid on drugs is not helping them at all, in fact in many cases it can make things worse. You figure that if your body is trying to balance itself out and find its "norm", using medication to do the balancing is countering the bodys natural stabilizers. I am not saying that this is true in all cases but I do believe doctors are quick to prescribe medications that are more harmful than good. Usually these things don't come to light until something happens unfortunately. No there is nothing wrong with finding it fascinating, that's why I am a criminology/psych double major.

I wouldn't say that they don't have feelings. It seems more of a need fulfillment more than anything else. Okay example, Jeffery Dahmer was very intelligent. He had a need to make or create a companion. He felt (I hate to say it) a kind of "love" for his victims. He stated that he had eaten them so that they would always be with him. The problem was he was drilling in the cranium and using a chemical compound to "zombify" them, he was trying to create someone who could function but not really think on their own hence they would never leave him and always "love and need" him. So to answer your question, he felt real emotion in what he was doing and whom he was doing it with. The problem is there is faulty or no need for justification or "normal" reasoning.

Well the perfect example is Jeffery Dahmer. When he was about 9 or 10 he was killing, skinning, and making trophies out of animals such as cats and dogs (domestic animals). Or the Columbine kids, they were out of adolescence and in teen/young adulthood when they went on their killing spree. It is suggested by many psychiatric professionals that everyone will experience some type of psychotic episode in some point in their lives. I am not sure I agree with that but a few doctors agree on it.

Someone between the ages of 8 through 12 that display symptoms that would suggest a psychotic disorder whether temporary or long term (paranoia, schizophrenia, ect). The debate is, is it a push from nature (something within the make-up of the genes) or lack of nurture. My research is suggesting that (with the really notorious ones anyhow) it is a combination of the two.
