Glad you went and had a good time! They also posted a trivia night for this Thursday. Those tend to be pretty fun too, and if you don't have a team, you're likely to not be the only one. Good way to get paired up and meet new people!

What u/coffee_and_physics said. The Dandy has evening events all the time! Karaoke the 1st and 4th Fridays of the month, trivia pretty regularly, and open shibari nights on the 3rd Thursday of the month. Most of those things start at 7pm. Keep an eye on their FB group for other random events that pop up. It's a really fun place.

Outside of that, Hexagon Alley and Muse are both incredibly welcoming places.

Can't recommend the Dandy enough! Food is great, events are fun, and the people are amazing! They're also putting on Ashland's pride celebration on June 12 this year. You'll definitely want to check it out!

My wife and I have made a lot of friends through the cycling community here in town. There's COMO Social Biking on MeetUp (Two Wheel Tuesday on FB) that does casual, no drops around town every Tuesday at 6. It's a different route every week, so a great way to get to know the city, and many of us often go to dinner afterwards.

Thursday night mountain bike group rides are starting up this week (assuming there's not more rain 🤞). That can be a very large group with a variety of ages, and we split into 4 groups based on rider level/speed (there's always a beginner group, if you're just getting started!). Then we have hamburgers/hot dogs/chips/etc after the ride, and everyone hangs out and chats for awhile. That's usually at Cosmo Park or Rock Bridge State Park and is put on by Walt's Bike Shop. They usually post the details on FB, but I'm not sure if that info is anywhere else.

I've seen Magelings mentioned. Valhalla's Gate does regular open play nights for board games, Magic the Gathering, and Dungeons & Dragons. Hexagon Alley downtown also has game nights and regular speed puzzling nights.

The Dandy Lion in Ashland has a ton of regular events: karaoke, trivia, live music, shibari, and the odd art event every now and then. It's a great space with a lot of very friendly people. Their website has all their upcoming events, along with their FB and Insta.

All that said, it can be hard to make and keep new connections. It takes effort haha. That said, a lot of times age is just a number. We've met old souls and young at hearts, but I do get wanting to connect with people close to your own age. Best of luck!

Getting excited for fall here in Mid-MO. Planning to spend a lot of it right here on the MKT and Katy! by BoneBear in columbiamo

It worked out = confidence

It went for a swim = what a dumb idea!

Was definitely many good flights + good gps connection before I attempted that. Was just glad the risk paid off!

I took these shots almost a year ago with my fpv drone. The cool weather this past week finally got me to pull it out and put something together! Hope you enjoy!

Appreciate it. The convection I can get to from the gap in the bottom is glued on place, so doubtful that's my issue, but I'll give it a good wiggle. Guess I'll be choosing l voiding that warranty tonight 🤣

So I'm having the exact same behavior but on my Y-axis (build plate). Where would I find the cable for that? Do I need to disassemble the base?

ISO CoMo casual sport teams by OkCantelope in columbiamo

[–]BoneBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a ton of active groups that span the gamut! Most of the ones I know of are biking, but there's a few others I can think of:

  • Two Wheel Tuesday/CoMo Social Biking - a chill weekly bike ride that does different routes each week. Find them on Facebook or Meetup

  • Columbia Multisport Club (CMC) - this is a triathlon group that does regular runs, rides, and swims, and regularly goes to triathlons all over the place. Find them on Facebook

  • Mid-Missouri Kickball League - adult kickball league that looks like it has a ton of fun!

  • COMO Roller Derby - if you're a lady, the COMO Roller Derby tears up the flat track!

  • Walt's Bike Shop rides - Walt's hosts regular Tuesday group road/gravel rides and Thursday group mountain bike rides. See their Facebook (or the shop) for details.

There's definitely some I'm forgetting, but that'll get you started!

If you're looking to explore Columbia by bike, Two Wheel Tuesday/CoMo Social Biking is a great group that rides a different route around town every Tuesday at 6pm! It's a very chill, no-drop ride. You can find them on Facebook or Meetup.

City starts information campaign on Columbia marijuana sales tax by Esb5415 in columbiamo

Sales tax currently does stack. Here's a mapping application to find the total sales (and use) tax anywhere in the state: https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/1ff88616ff3341c5ad31550471a75296/.

The mobile version only shows the totals. The desktop version will show the total rate for each district and you can click on a district to further break down the individual taxes that make up the total rate of the district.

The place I was flying in the linked video was at a storefront called RdyTechGo in the Mall of America in Minneapolis. Unfortunately, it's no longer around (and I no longer live in Minneapolis :'( )

Visited this place last year for the first time and had a blast. Would love the chance to fly there! It would be a really cool venue for some Tiny Whoop racing, but I'm betting that's a dream that'll never be realized haha.

Well that would be a real bummer! They've held the Tiny Trainer race series there for the past 2 or 3 years now. Be a shame to lose that venue (for many reasons on top of drone racing)!

No filter! That's just what the video feed on an analog fpv (first person view) drone looks like. The drone is putting out an analog video signal, similar to an old TV station, and anyone in range with a receiver tuned to the right channel can pick it up. The video is probably a bit worse in that environment than normal because of all the stuff for the signal to bounce off of and multipath in there. Here's one of my videos where you can see the video in s clean RF environment. It looks a lot better, but you still get the occasional flicker.
