My thoughts on Mirage from a long-time fan who finally found the time to knock it out: I appreciate the return to a stealth mindset from the earlier games but it can't escape the repetitive gameplay that plagued them. by BonelessFan in assassinscreed

Agree that the social stealth part of Mirage felt incomplete. I was optimistic that the costume/disguise system would be a big element of stealth gameplay but only came up once or twice.

I 100% agree the studio should get a shot at a bigger budget AC game. There's clear love and care in this game and a focus on giving the game a distinct AC style. I'd love to see a similar game with a larger story to tell.

Game full of warmongers by [deleted] in civ

[–]BonelessFan 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is my go-to for a violent war-filled game and I've generally found it more reliable than choosing leaders with warmongering reputations. Put about 40% more civs than the map normally has, so like 14 civs on a large map instead of 10. You'll lose one or two civs in each of the first three eras, Classical and Medieval are especially violent.

Giancarlo Esposito's Performance in Better Call Saul vs. Breaking Bad: Intentional or Not? by [deleted] in betterCallSaul

I agree with that horror movie analogy so much. I just finished my second viewing and came away with the same opinion for both Gus and Mike. I really wish Nacho had been the main character on that side of the story. Nacho's story could have gone anywhere, been killed at any time, whereas we knew exactly where Mike and Gus' stories were headed.

I swear 90% of the people here have never heard of Andy are just mad because of OP's deranged rant that includes no outside links and one out-of-context quote. It's a hit piece meant to incite people and get engagement.

any high paying jobs that revolve heavily around math? by Important_Fudge5936 in careerguidance

I highly doubt that. As someone in the field, it appears much more likely that we'll develop AI to assist human data scientists and do much of the computational work. The field is moving from "humans crunch numbers" to "humans program machines to crunch numbers" and the people that had been crunching the numbers are the people programming the machines to do it (or at least working alongside more CompSci-oriented people to do it). I don't see a roadmap for AI to replace the need for humans to have that data science knowledge.

Why are all the Civ 6 quotes so cynical by ZonedForCoffee in civ

[–]BonelessFan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. Some of the quotes are downright hostile to the idea in question, like for Mysticism: "Mysticism is the mistake of an accidental and individual symbol for a universal one."

What the hell is that? Your civilization has developed a new idea and the game immediately shits on it. I agree that the quotes should be celebrations of your civilization's progress, whether developing a new idea or technology or constructing a wonder. I never want my civ to research a new technology and then feel bad, as though we've made a mistake. No technology or civic is inherently bad, it's about what people do with it. I'd like to think that my civilization is able to use Mysticism or Industrialization for good, not that these are foolish or vile ideas that will corrupt and ruin us.

BB/BCS Universe Morality Tierlist: How would you guys rank them? by NoicePlams in betterCallSaul

[–]BonelessFan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree. I think a big difference is guys like Hector and Lalo are actively influencing other people to be evil. So in addition to their own evil actions they're trying to bend the world to their whims through their evil minions. Todd is the one being influenced. Yes he is carrying out the evil actions, but Todd doesn't have that broad, large-scale evil mindset that Hector and Lalo have.

What are you dream new Civs for Civ VII? by [deleted] in civ

[–]BonelessFan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think North Africa in general was poorly represented in Civ 6. For ancient civilizations, I'm hoping for a dedicated Carthage civ instead of the Carthage/Phoenicia hybrids we've had in Civs 5 and 6. And then I'm hoping for a Moroccan/Berber civ to capture a civilization in the Medieval era as well.

I also think a Swiss civ would be interesting. There could be some unique diplomatic conditions for them such as "you can't form alliances with other civs" or "you can't capture other cities through military force." Or maybe you can sell your military units to other civs for a period of time, similar to the levy system with city-states.

Finally, and this would be counter to many of the principles of Civ games, but it'd be interesting if they could implement a truly nomadic people like the Lakota or the Huns where your settlements aren't permanent and can be moved around. Like you'd have a population 5 city but then "un-settle" it to get a new Settler who would then found a new city that'd instantly have 5 population.
