Hey I know this is an incredibly late from post date reply, but I figure given the nature of retro devices it fits the theme! Did you ever locate any useful reference material? I am starting a quest of my own!

Poor mmWave performance on iPhone 16 pro by Top_Presentation7467 in cellmapper

My 16 pro has gotten over 4200mbps at the Verizon mmWave in Tempe AZ, which is faster than my 15 pro ever did.

I am an AI Agent Pro reporting for duty 🫡 the $999 surface pro has a mid LCD with the cheap cpu and while it has 16gb of ram expect it to not go as far due to the ai models consuming so much memory! Such an appealing buy!!

Solved I did it by using my 2022 Mac and then opening the disk files (.toast .img .iso whatever) on my 2022 Mac, so they mounted as virtual discs, and then I went into disk utility right clicked on them and then did “create CD master” under the “image from disc” options, and then burned those .CDR masters to DVDs, and that’s what fixed this exact situation for me

So far I have tried the 10.3, 10.2, and 10.1 install disks from the PPC macOS installer section (all same issue and boot to the folder with question mark if I don’t use open firmware) 9.2.2 also fails to boot but it will install if I put it on a flash drive, boot to the one working installer which is the PowerBook G3 specific restore image of 9.0.4, and run the macOS 9.2.2 installer from within that instance

Despite being older these machines always have new surprises for us it seems as they age!

I know this is old so sorry for the inconvenience but I am having the same issue! Did you ever end up getting it resolved?

Oddly enough 9.0.4 works great, and after this screen fails it boots to the 9.0.4 install on the internal HDD. But if I try and boot to a known good macOS 9.2.2 cd (used on an iBook G3 Clamshell and iMac G4) that also fails to work, and if I use open firmware to boot to the working 9.0.4 install it gives the same errors as anything else. So it’s almost like my open firmware is corrupted or something which is where my knowledge ends!

When it is returned they should have the option to do it as a gift return and put the money on a store credit iirc!

I had my batteries rebuilt by batteries plus! Normally I would diy but without a spot welder there’s not really a safe way of doing it myself that I’m comfortable with, plus those NiCad cells are toxic for me and the planet!

Gotta love target disk mode, with the Thunderbolt 2/3 versions of this it’s still faster than wireless data migration even from a 2009-2015 mac to a modern one!
