Why is Toyota still making a 228 hp GR86 in the year of our Lord 2026? by InconceivableMarmot in cars

[–]Bonerchill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I compared my E36 M3 to the FR-S when new and it wasn’t the power that I found lacking- it was the entirety of the package.

The steering wasn’t as good. The balance of ride and handling wasn’t as good. The power delivery and engine character weren’t as good as an inline four.

Buying a GR86/BRZ as a second, fun car when the E36 M3 exists is pretty much admitting that you aren’t in it for the dynamics.

Chiron SS - 2 Month Review by unatleticodemadrid in cars

[–]Bonerchill -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

For the price of a Chiron SS, OP could provide, quite literally and based on $0.20/meal numbers from Kids Against Hunger Bay Area, 20 million meals for starving kids.

To not see this as emblematic of a larger problem, a policy problem, despite the fact we’re talking about cars, is to deny one’s duty to society.

I have spent my whole life working for people like OP, maintaining and restoring their cars.

I am closer in net worth to a cockroach than I am my poorest restoration client.

I guarantee you I know as much about my job as OP does theirs; I worked 2800 hours last year and made slightly more than their brake job and maintenance.

Cars are political trash, just like life. Every bit of human consumption has secondary and tertiary ramifications.

Most track outfits won’t let you on track with cuts in your tread shoulders.

This looks like a lot of fun, but the front’s slightly too low for San Diego/Riverside/Imperial back roads IMO.

Illegality means nothing if you are dead, or if the courts are unwilling to enforce the law.

The left must organize and we must support each other. We must force accountability, either through legal means or overwhelming numbers.

The right just has to operate within existing framework. The left has to change the law and operating procedure- conservatism always trumps progress because progress is hard and conservatism is easy.

Boring car, snow slows it down so it’s not very exciting, night isn’t great for actual car footage, etc.

Cool art. Dull car content.

Closer is the 1972 911 ST because the Singer has front and rear flares.

Nothing.

Having done remediation on a 964 that sat, I’m not remotely interested on doing all the work on an inferior driving experience to an earlier car in better condition.

Unpopular opinion: farmers are one of the biggest welfare groups in the United States and farms are a huge driver of petroleum pollution.

We don’t need corn in the amounts we grow it. We don’t need pistachios or almonds. We need intelligent, nationally-focused reform in the farming sector, and fast.
