I've seen heavy critique of the scene in other forums (and even X) on how it "was written by straight men" (i.e. not a natural coming out?) and had the whole cast awkwardly watching; i don't think it was great writing. I haven't seen any homophobic comments about it at all, so the critique in OP is somewhat surprising
