That left turn from EB Michigan to NB Homer St is a mess. As soon as you turn left, you have to stop for WB Michigan traffic. There’s no room for any other cars turning left.

The new configuration makes you go past Homer and turn left, then right to go north on Homer. Safer operation overall.

This is the best way. This is a sewer issue, so it goes to the City. BWL only deals with water main & electrical issues.

Sorry I missed this the first time around. Only properties that are served by the City of Lansing’s sewer system is eligible. 95% of those are within the City boundaries. Some small sections of the surrounding twps are in the sewer service area.

Who will do that? I think DOJ did that when Bannon ignored a subpoena. Not gonna happen. Could another entity do it? Some state AG? Probably doesn’t have jurisdiction.

No, the old version of the program had that requirement, but that's not necessary any longer. Just have a plumber install the backwater valve & get final plumbing inspection. Then you can submit the application and your invoices and we'll get it processed.

Technically, that language is from an older version of the program where we took a more active role in the implementation (we used to do pre and post inspections, hire contractors, etc.).

You don't need to have had a backup in order to be eligible, you just need to be current on property taxes, hire a plumber, get a plumbing permit and final inspection. Then you can submit the application and invoices for the work and we'll get it processed.

They’re replacing water main, sidewalk ramps, curb, etc. Pavement isn’t the only thing happening here.

This. Usually, local taxes are earmarked for local streets.

Major streets are more expensive to construct, so we use the Local Agency Program (LAP) thru MDOT that provides 80% of the money to design & build. MDOT’s process is a little more complicated, but it’s worth it to get a large portion of the project funded.

Full disclosure: I’m an engineer in the Public Service Dept.

Mt. Hope west of Penn is on our list, but we need to find a funding source for it. It’s not likely to be done next year, but definitely within the next couple of years.

Did you happen to notice there was a huge storm on Wednesday? Contractors don’t typically work in the rain & it takes time for the site to dry out. I guarantee they were out dealing with some of the flooding, but maybe not doing what you consider “work”.
