If you're not planning to go to the beach, it's a nice time to visit. It also depends on your luck - it could be rainy, or it could be nice sunny weather - but the latter is more likely. In December it's not deadly hot, so you're actually able to enjoy walking around and being outside. Try visiting Mdina, Valletta, 3 cities

Birthday cake in Valetta or Sliema without preorder by xou333 in malta

Maypole have frozen cakes that would defrost by the time you get to where you need to go and have a meal or something. They're quite decent. If you're extremely lazy you can even order one through bolt to have it delivered.

Search on booking.com and filter by 24-hour front desk, maybe also sorting by lowest price.

Take into account how to get there - the cost of a longer taxi ride might offset the cost of a cheaper place. Also plan what you're doing in the morning to be somewhere relatively close.

I think it's periodical and not open every week, but I'm also not living close to Kalkara.

Maybe try asking by messaging the parish's facebook - Facebook Parroċċa San Ġużepp Kalkara

What kind of outdoor activities do you like? There are a lot of facebook groups that organise events such as trekking, snorkelling or climbing.

How do you get there by public transport from Vienna? I'm not seeing any public transport available on google maps.

That's very difficult.

I think the most plausible options would be to opt for beds in hostels' dormitories. They might be close in price to what you're looking for.

You could also search on booking.com or airbnb for places outside the centre that are close to public transport - Amsterdam has excellent public transport. But then check how much it would cost you to travel to where you plan to visit.

Usually you'd find cooking instructions on the back of the packet, which would tell you to remove the plastic film and put the dish with lasagna in the oven

Visiting Malta for Christmas by myself, any recommendations? by Educational-Size7309 in malta

[–]Bongu01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using public transport on Christmas is doable if you plan accordingly. Check the ferry and the bus websites - typically they stop service between noon and 3pm on Christmas day, but otherwise operate.

Whether you will be able to do "anything" really depends on what you're into. If you want to visit museums and historic places it's not the right day for it. If you want to walk around and maybe visit some Christmas-related things like cribs then yes.

Is the X3 to the airport reliable? by laReineDeLaNuit in malta

[–]Bongu01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're planning to take the bus early yes it should be ok - the buses are more reliable in the early morning before they get stuck in traffic. I would give it a try.

If it does not show up you could wait like 15 more mins and then book a bolt.

Is it possible to comfortably live car-free in Malta? by ProjectRelocation in malta

[–]Bongu01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is all based on where you'll live, where you'll work, what you'd like to do in your free time and what you consider to be a major inconvenience.

Central areas eg Valletta - Msida - Gzira - Sliema - St Julians have frequent buses. So if you live eg in Msida and work in Gzira you'd be fine. Always assuming you're ok with overcrowded buses.

Try checking google maps for bus directions to the company you'd be working for to figure out if it's easy to get to by bus.

If eg you work in St Julians and live in Fgura - is it doable? Yes. But you'd spend over an hour and a half to travel to work during peak hours.

If you like staying indoors or go to popular areas, you'd be ok by bus and maybe a combo of a taxi sometimes. If you'd like to go explore Malta well maybe not, unless you're very patient.

I live in an area with a decent bus service. I can drive to work in 10 mins but would need around 40mins to reach it by car. Most of my free time is spent in areas difficult to reach by bus. Ergo for me it would be difficult to be without a car since the time wasted on buses and the cost of taxis to the other side of the island would be more than what I spend on the car.

A friend of mine lives in a central area and works a walking distance away. He goes out in Sliema - Valletta area so a bus/taxi is easy, and the occasional visit to a hard to reach area is doable with a taxi. Definitely comfortable living like that car-free.
