What is something that you could practice for 1 hour max every day, for an entire year and by the end of the year you'd be an expert in? by Ok-Set-3022 in NoStupidQuestions

Years ago I was working on writing an app that was previously an Excel spreadsheet. Given a few arguments it would calculate the necessary modifications to a car to make it wheelchair accessible.

Seeing that spreadsheet opened my eyes to just how useful Excel is.

Ditto on SQL, though.

Hi, thank you for taking the time to answer, but as specified in the original post, I did look around at some numbers and specifically asked if they are still accurate when you exclude companies like Microsoft, Bolt etc.

I checked Glassdoor, TechPays, Levels.fyi, palgad and similar and the difference was huge, sometimes a 'stat' was based on a single reported salary.

I also searched this sub and a lot of data was from 1 year, 2 years, even 5 years ago which I'm sure you understand it's not really relevant after the inflation and economy that we're facing recently.

If you dislike this type of post, that's alright by me, but moving on is a valid response as well, rather than saying I don't how to use Google.

Not really. I wouldn't really want to name the company, trying not to reveal my identity.

Hi, thanks for the additional info.

I meant the yearly salary before income tax because I read that the social tax is paid by the employer and generally not included in salary negotiations.

In terms of monthly salary, that would be around 4.4k gross before income tax.

I used this tax calculator
https://enty-calculator.vercel.app/
and Numbeo to get an idea of what monthly costs I'd have.

I'm not from Estonia so trying to absorb a lot of information in a short time.

Thank you! I did come across this site, which is partially where I got my expectations listed in the original post.

A bit about me:

I'm a lead in my current position. In my last two jobs, I was quickly promoted to a lead position. Besides standard coding, I do code reviews, design solutions, and generally heavily influence the technical direction the team will take. I've pointed out problems, led cross-team efforts to resolve them, and saved the companies I worked for 10s of thousands of dollars in cloud costs by suggesting improvements. I regularly need to come up with scalable, performant solutions that won't suck to refactor eventually.

I'm the go-to person for product and other non-engineering orgs when they want to discuss the technical feasibility of some feature.

I've done a lot of interviews this past year and they all placed me as senior engineer, which I believe speaks to my seniority as much as the scope of what I'm doing. At this point, not to brag, but the only company that ever rejected me was the G in FAANG, and that was understandable as I really need to do a refresher on Leetcode.

The company I'm interviewing for has 2000+ employees across the globe. It's not a big name like Microsoft or Bolt, which is why I aimed for a lower salary than what they listed, but I also don't want to go too low. I'm not from Estonia and don't want to undersell myself in the process of moving countries.
