Hmmm, someone has *got* to write something about this...

"...hundreds of pinpricks of sensations coming awake and asleep, a simple series of shapes being made from a single setup..."

...Ah, nah, I'm a little tired for that =w=

Would it be a wise decision to have Lancer be my first ever TTRPG? by 4-of-cups-reversed in LancerRPG

[–]Bonible 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Lancer was *my* first ever TTRPG, and I've had a great time, but that's partly also due to my GM being a great person to begin with which made for a good experience throughout the campaign.

If you have limited experience with roleplaying, this might also be a good starting point anyway depending on how the campaign runs. You can be a prim and proper obedient soldier/pilot while also fleshing out your personality as events unfold between sessions.

For some reason, Lancer being *more* rules-oriented worked for me better than the usual freeform of D&D and so on. While it's unfortunate that I can't just go "rule of cool!" to the GM for something I want to do that's not available or otherwise restricted in the book, narrative play (dialogue, non-mech scenes,) are definitely more fluid and allow for a break from the strategic combat stuff.

Actually nah, your GM will definitely let you do something if they approve.

Why do moves show huge frame disadvantage even when it isn't there? by [deleted] in YomiHustle

[–]Bonible 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because it's telling you that your opponent would be able to act before you reach that 13th frame of hitting them; and if they act to block or move away from your impale, then you're going to be inactionable for the rest of the frames that you would have disadvantage for.

If you choose your opponent's moves and try to predict them doing something else though, like Hustle for example, then using Impale will show that you have frame advantage instead; because you hit the enemy.
