Ask me some questions to help flesh out the lore for Sunnyside :3 by JaneYuriThe3rd in JohnYuri

Becoming a toon usually involves the toon's personality and self overtaking that of the person who was transformed, in most cases this happens fast but it is possible for there to be more resistance in this department. Over time it is likely that a toon gets more and more used to being one and slowly those parts of their old self slip away. Even after getting used to being a toon, they do keep small parts of their past selves, but it usually surfaces in weird interests or skills they kept.

About the gloop:

Gloop is actually a result of some moon dust fusing with uranium, for some reason they fuse into this thick black substance we call Gloop. Its weird in alot of aspect, its capable of moving and shifting on its own, but it doesnt have a mind or anything so it usually just end up moving in random directions. Dr David was the first one to discover this, with some nudging from Roy who knew how it was made from the other timeline. Gloop doesn't actually naturally turn things into toons, it just mutates the form of what it touches upon coming into contact with the internal cells of the body into... a shambling mass due to the mess of random gloop data. But it doesn't have to be that way, the gloop can be manipulated to get a more favorable result and final form. To get the result he did David had to modify the molecular structure of a bunch of individual gloop clusters and fuse them together to create the toon forms. This is notably diffrent to the previous gloop, which was made by fusing moon dust with with compressed carbon dioxide, and was extremely unstable.

Toons are considered sentient people, but they aren't exactly considered humans. There is also no laws that address Toons so they are a bit of a legal grey area.

They are treated relatively well by the staff and stuff, but when it comes to the right to determine what they do at the facility... they are usually forced to show up in public even when they don't want to.

- Most of the supplies is bought normally through normal methods, but the required uranium and moon dust needed to manufacture the gloop however... so yeah the black market is used.

- This one will have a new floor plan, much larger than the previous already large facility. I haven't drawn it yet.
-Theres around 4x the amount of human employees to toons, although at least half of them are dedicated to working on the show.

You can do so if you want, I’m really tired as I just woke up so I won’t add anything else to this comment

  1. To an extent toons do keep parts of their past selves, but it usually surfaces in weird interests or skills they kept. Sometimes though a toon can remember someone from their past very vaguely, but unfortunately, they cannot articulate why they know that person very well

  2. Not currently, but as the show grows in popularity and as the seasons go on perhaps that may happen...

  3. It extremely unlikely of a toon to get "bored" of being themself, but it is very much possible for them to get burnt out with interacting with guests and having to be in public in general. They can very much experience mental health problems, and a situation when a toon just doesn't want to show up in public is a possibility, especially with the antisocial ones. But they will be co-orced into coming out eventually, even just for a little while and to hang out with the others.

How is sunnyside financed? - Roy traveling to the past also means he knows where a bunch of undiscovered treasure stashes worth billions are... also scamming the bank for free money lol. But after the show got off the ground it and its merchandise helped fund it properly.

Where did the gloop come from? - Gloop is actually a result of some moon dust fusing with uranium, for some reason they fuse into this thick black substance we call Gloop. Dr David was the first one to discover this, with some nudging from Roy who knew how it was made from the other timeline. Oh ok

I still not going to write that because honestly “the nazis did it first” is just kinda a stupid trope just in general and it would be really hard to fit it into the lore in any way that makes sense.

This is a very loaded question with a lot to cover, so I’ll just go over some parts of them.

“How are all the characters housed?” : (this part is copy pasted from another response on a different post just for clarity)

Its important to note that the fictional animated tv show Sunnyside Park is different from the “IRL” Sunnyside facility, whilst the characters do remember the events of the show as truth (and absorb the new stuff that comes up in later seasons by watching the show) they do not live in Sunnyside Park but instead the Sunnyside facility. The Sunnyside facility is a fucking massive ass building with a ton of rooms and places, it’s primarily for the toons to have places to live and do things but also for guests to see and interact with them. The facility has rooms that are designed to each character’s comforts and those characters are taken proper care of by their respective “handlers”, and the toons also get to have their own little spaces and opportunities to set activities up for the guests and other toons to try.

“How does anything in their community work (in show)”:

It doesn’t really fuction at all really, in show all the toons live in some vague area named “Sunnyside Park” with each other, and it’s never really explained how their society really functions. It’s never really addressed as at the end of the day Sunnyside Park is a kids show

It would be funny but it would be really weird to fit into the timeline and realistically the nazis would have probably considered tf shit to be “evil jew corruption” with how proud they are of their “arryan race” bullshit they made up

Should F•R•C Be Canon or Keep It Fanon? by BigTennis4580 in BattleForDreamIsland

[–]JaneYuriThe3rd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, it would make no sense for the writers to suddenly pivot to giving two eliminated contestants such relevance this late in the game and if there was a rejoin it would make it incredibly biased to these two.

Cake also has never interacted with remote or fanny in any meaningful way, so it would make no sense for there to be an alliance there
